I'm thinking Les is glad that the folks in Edmonton vetoed that move. Although it would have been cool to have a Houston Oilers again....without those pansy blue jerseys
from mateo: Yeah. But the quote I remember from Les was from late in the 2003 NHL season when almost everyone knew that the league had to shut down in order to survive and Alexander seemed pretty happy about it. My only point is that the value of any franchise he might purchase is chump change (especially now) compared to the operating costs of running an NHL franchise, propping up their minor league team affiliates and likely losing money bigtime for awhile in Houston. It still could be a very wise investment now, but I think money (even luxury tax money) put into the Rox now will be profitable too. I couldn't say that 2 or 3 years ago, but I definitely believe it now. Even if he is the poorest owner in the league he can find capital and I think he's shrewd enough to know where to put it. I just hope he's no longer set on an NHL franchise.
