How come Battier can pass but our PG cannot?

The 6:40 mark of the 4th quarter said it all. Yao has his man sealed off and is waiting for the pass. AB gives him a look and then passes it off. WTF?

There is no doubt that if Shane Battier were there instead of AB, that ball would be in Yao's hands.

Which leads us to the question why, and why, can't AB find Yao. I noticed most of the time when Battier gets the ball to Yao, Battier is in his usual favorite spot on either side of the 3 pt line. Battier usually throws a short lob over his defender to Yao, although Battier will go with the occasional bounce pass.

Now let's go to the 6:40 mark of rhte 4th quarter. My guess is AB feels he is too short and can't throw a good lob pass to Yao.

At other times, when AB is at the top of the 3 pt line (as opposed to the side of the 3 pt line) and Yao has position, AB either doesn't have confidence to pass it in traffic, or AB is too short to pass it over his defender into Yao. The last possibility is AB just doesn't have good enough court vision and simply misses Yao when Yao has position and has sealed off his man.

This is just frustrating that Battier is the only player that can pass it to Yao, and Battier isn't even our PG. I noticed in the 2nd half, Adelman even started running plays to get Battier the ball, when Battier was on Yao's side, because Battier is the only player that can get Yao the ball consistently. LOL, Battier has become our part time PG!

1.) Battier is our smartest player
2.) Aaron Brooks is our dumbest player
    3.) Battier actually likes Yao
4.) Battier doesn't secretly work for the Portland Trail Blazers
5.) Battier is mature and smart enough to realize Yao is our offense
6.) Aaron Brooks is a tool

is it possibly time to play brent barry at point guard? At least he can make an entry pass (i hope) and he can't possibly play worse defense on steve blake than AB

That play was the first time I saw Yao get really frustrated with not getting the pass. I haven't seen the replay yet, but he seemed like he threw his hands up in the air after Brooks passed off as if he was upset.

It's true that Brooks isn't the tallest guy on the block. But also, it seems that AB hesitates on the entry pass because he doesn't trust Yao's ability to handle it, which would only result in a turnover. So most of the time, he folded under the pressure of the playoffs, took the less riskier approach, and just swung the ball to the other side.

Comon, Blake, 6-3, can easily block out Brooks' "court vision" and the passing lane just by standing in front of him. WTF can Brooks do? You can blame him for being 5-10.

AB is the 2nd year role player. He did what coach asked him to do. It's really funny that coach RA executes his motion offense by using 2 ball hoggers. I blame it on owner/manager/coach to trade Rafer. They difinitely gave up this season for future.

I saw that too! Yao was so frustrated to see that Brooks didn't pass the ball. Some one should slap Brooks on his face to wake him up.

I'm sick of this inexperience crap. Look at Rajon Rondo last season. He was amazing in the playoffs AND in the regular season.

Aaron Brooks is pure trash, I really hope It was an early April's fool joke in Feb. when we said Aaron Brooks is our PG for the future.

I remember that play, and Brooks should have thrown it in. There was a second player about a foot away from Yao who was ready to apply a hard double team as soon as Yao received it, so I guess Brooks thought he'd move the ball to the other side as a safer play. I think he should just get Yao the ball, let him accept and read the double team, and pass out if necessary. Yao's been doing a pretty good job of making those reads of late ... just trust him.

AB and Wafer were so overrated at that time.

"AB will be Tony Parker, Wafer is better than Tmac", most fans don' have any idea about what takes it to be a good player in NBA, let alone a great one.
