Twice in the last three games, Adelman has glowingly talked about Chuck's intelligence as a defender. It's pretty clear to me that he, and the Rockets at large, really like all three of our PFs. I expect, and hope, that all three will return to the team next year. I don't think any team without an all-star caliber player at PF is getting the production out of that position (on both ends) that we're getting collectively from our trio.

Just remember this thread when he misses wide open layups and FT. Do appreciate what Chuck does for this team other than scoring. Same goes for Battier. I think Battier is as critical as Tmac or Alston for this streak, even though he didnt score as much.

every championship team must have at least one "dirty work" player who is non-stop hustle and does the little things that contribute to winning that most players don't like to do.

    we have four of em.

major credit to the Dirty Jobs crew......Chuck, Shane, Landry and Scola.

without them, we would be floundering in a sea of hopelessness without our 7'6" life preserver.

Re-signing Chuck Hayes was the most underrated move of the offseason.

If he's your starting power forward, you are in serious trouble, as we saw last year. But as your 4th or 5th big guy, you simply can't get better quality depth than that.

The mark of a mediocre team is when specialists fill out the starting lineup and key bench spots. The mark of a great team is when specialists round out the last few spots on the roster, maximizing their abilities efficiently in their few minutes so as not to reach the peak of diminished return.

yeah chuck is definitely great. his defense was huge in both the game last night and the indiana game. both games seemed to turn with his D and hustle, even if everyone else was doing the scoring. he's so valuable when we need someone to D up on a good PF and now is really valuable with yao, and now landry, going down.

what's great is he's signed for 4 years for cheap (2M/yr) and scola is also signed for 3 years for cheap (3M/yr). if we can get landry for a reasonable price we could have a really good PF for less than 10M/yr. that's how you build a team with a salary cap in place. pay the 2 big guys the big money, and then have solid contributors with no one else making over 6M/yr (i think shane or alston will be the only ones over 6 next year).

It's so true. Energy and defense can tide teams over through any poor shooting streak.

I'm so happy to have him as our 3rd string pf. He's a great situational guy and a great guy to step if someone goes down.

Yeah Chuck was awesome last night. And if it wasnt for Chuck calling out his teamates and getting everyone on the same page, we dont go on this amazing win streak. Chuck saved our season...LONG LIVE CHUCK

If we could only combine Hayes' defense, Landry's athleticism and intensity, and Scola's craftiness/jump shot and footwork, we will have one hell of a PF. :p

Until then, I will settle having all 3 of them with 18 fouls to spare.

I love this guy. He's always so active in the court.
And no complaints when he did not have any time in some games.
He helped a lot in defence and his offence has also improved recently!
