Like your manlove for Tmac? Seriously, you are both very dedicated fans to a certain Rockets player. I salute both of you. Way to go.

umm, I don't know how you guys got the impression that all chinese are commnunists, truthfully. less than 15% of Chinese population really believes in communism. I think the percentage may be lower than ONE in schools.

Pryuen, i apreciate your dedication to Yao.

However i have to say i think you kinda overreacted. I do think that he meant because Yao is so tall (and being tall is a disadvantage, in his opinion) even such a tall person shoots better then Lebron.

However what i think he meant doesn't matter. He made this comment, and you (and others reading this article) can draw 2 conclusions from his comment including Yao.

1 he is dissing Yao, saying EVEN the terrible free throw shooter Yao shoots better.

2 take it as a compliment, and see that he thinks Yao is a superstar and possible(when healty) MVP candidate.

I prefer the positive look at his comment. We can get angry and think he wanted to be negative, but if we always think others are being negative it is not a nice way to look at people, and that way we are paranoid.

So if i can give my advice, do not imediatly think people are bashing Yao. Try to see that most people are positive about Yao.

    author should have said this:

Even 7-foot-6 Yao Ming (87 percent) shoots his free throws better than Kobe Bryant (86), Gilbert Arenas (84), Dwyane Wade (81), and James.

I think the fact that he even mentioned Yao is a compliment. He was making comparisons based on star players.

At least people who read the article now notice what Yao's astounding FT% is and appreciate the fact that he is a stud. Another way to look at what he wrote is that despite all of LBJ's hype, Yao is actually quietly and efficiently taking the league by a storm. I know that statement was contradictory, but please bare with me.

If anything the writer should have looked at Mcgrady who shot terrible at the beginning of the season (67% I think) but he put it together and should be over 70% pretty soon. It does seem like a sideways compliment, but I've heard a lot worse in stuff relating to all star selection and why both T-mac and Yao shouldn't be starters. The hating is out there but this is not a good example.

I can't believe this thread is 6 pages long...

    pryuen;

I think you're over reacting. The sentence could be read in a few different ways with one of them as a back handed compliment to Yao but considering its at the very end of an article about Lebron James its likely more of a throwaway line that was tacked on by the writer as he was going through a list of prominent figures in the NBA. Its not worth getting worked up over and I the ruckus being raised by this does seem overly sensitive.

At the same time the counter reaction seems over the top too. As another poster illustrated. This is a mountain being made out of a mole hill.

yes, i want to know the answer too. because apparently, yao's the US fans' favorite player, according to the lastest All-star ballot. You'd think the media would be nice to a player so loved by the public.

Yes, the defeat of the Wizards was a great accomplishment. The Cavs would have blasted through the Jazz.

    Here it comes...

Yao has proven to be the better free throw shooter than Le Bron. Pryuen was correct.

However, Le Bron is still shooting free throws.

Do you even like the Rockets anymore? Do you wish you could pull a Sam Beckett and leap back into the past and stay there for the rest of your life?

If I can leap back in the past, i'd bring a young Otis Thorpe, Maxwell, Herrera, Scottie Brooks, Bullard back with me.

I wouldn't bring back Kenny cause Kenny would have to comment about himself on TNT. If I pulled Dream back, then YOFers would be really mad that Yao gets put on the bench. Also Sam is still playing so Sam vs Sam would be continuous trash talking.

    That's a great Idea tho.

All that Yao wants is another free throw
    but there's no tommorow
    All that Yao wants
    yeah yeah

[IMG] Yao on the sofa at home watching the playoffs.... "le bron can't hit free throws, he needs to..."
[IMG] Bonzi "Shut up Yao, and pass me the pizza!"
[IMG]Allen "Fat fool, Le bron just needs to go to practice! I'm talking about practice!"
[IMG] "Thanks guys for coming over and watching the 2nd round of the playoffs with me. How about Tmac's house next year?"
[IMG]"No way, you guys are always at my house for the 2nd round every year, how about Robert Horry's house, he aint home!"
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]"HAHAHAHA"
