It is better that Yao not be a favorite of the media. I can't stand it when the media kisses up to a player or pushes a player on the fans. I rather have Yao just be who he is and have the last word when he wins a Championship. :D

Elaine: And one more thing, you really think we need the exclamation point? Because, it's not "Top of the Muffin *TO YOU!!!*"

Mr. Lippman: No. No. It is.

Uh, if you take it literally then I have nothing to say to you.

Go back and make sense of it. If I was sensitive to what others have to say about me, why would I even post such things

In case you don't get it, I was posting one of these "stupid fun" thread b/c the board was quiet at that time. I didn't give a crap what other think. I just enjoy people reaction and respond to such a thread.

What's this about? I don't think it's a great thread Pryuen has started; however, I don't understand your personal attacks. He has done far more great contribution to the board, as a fan of Yao Ming and Rockets fan. What have you done, as a "Big Man"?

dude, even Shaq, Hakeem and other greats get dish too. All I am trying to point out is that he needs to learn to chill out. Everybody have their opinion, whether it is right or wrong. In this case, Pryuen, definitely misinterpreted the article.

I appreciate his updates on Yao like most of us here. I was trust being harsh by telling him that it's futile to nitpick everything eveybody have to say.

Yao gets his fair share of compliments and he will get a lot more once he can help bring the Rockets the championship.

    Pryuen, seious question...

Are you pissed off (or atleast a little disapointed) that the Rockets have been playing 660% ball since Yao has been out?

Do you hate life because T-Mac is a better player than Yao?

Seriously dude what is your deal/obsession?

Man I love Yao but him breaking his leg (if he comes back 100%) was a blessing because this team has learned how to step up and play together.

The reason the reporter emphasizes that Yao is a better free throw shooter is because it is historically RARE for a big man to have a good percentage from the free throw line. In the NBA it is common for most guards to have better percentages than centers.

Your overreacting to an overreaction. How ironic.

He has nothing against T-Mac. He has posted in the game threads when others left when Yao was injured. You don't do that if you don't care about the team sans Yao.

This is just a simple case of lost by translation. English is not his first language. That's it. Just a simple explanation on the meaning of the phrase would have sufficed instead of accusing him of not liking T-Mac.

For the record the team had learned to step up even before Yao's injury. The team overcame Rafer's inconsistent shot many a game and T-Mac's doubts earlier in the season.

    Well let YallMean speak.

I think Pryuen is right about the intention of using "even" by the writer . It implied that James should shoot FT better than Yao.

Now, on a side note, Yao did get a lot of undeserving crticism because he is a Chinese. How often was he teased and joked about when he entered the league by the Media? I think it was to the point of annoying, joking or not. Young player like Dwight Howard, clearly a lesser of player than Yao, was raved about endlessly. To Yao, he is a scoring Center that can put up 27 pts a night but he is still not good enough. To Howard, he just needs to work on offense to be dominant. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Also, no offense to the aussie fans here, how often has the media criticized Andrew Bogout, another international #1 draft. He is not even close to the level what Yao was playing at the same stage.

Of course that's what he implied.

He shoudl shoot better than a 7-6 center as a general matter, since most centers, especially really tall ones, suck at free throws. I don't know why this is so hard for people to get.

that intro made me laugh. haha. you should start all posts like that.

wrt your points: Yao was super hyped as a #1, more than Bogut and Bargnani combined. And he has the biggest of all advantages; his height. I'm telling yeah, not only do you get scrutinized differently when you are super hyped like Lebron and Yao, but you get an extra level of scrutiny when you are 7'5. It is natural for many Americans to want to root for the underdog. A superhyped 7'5 big man is about the most opposite you can get to being an underdog.

imso, it isn't race; it isn't US vs China; the early laughing at Yao was simply David vs Goliath. relax. Same thing would have happened to Lebron had he started out slowly, and the same thing will happen to Oden if he does, too.

Do you read the writer's mind?

Could he mean that Yao's an Asian so James should shoot better. Or Yao looks soft, so James shoot better. :D

I am going to defend pryuen on this one, because everybody is against him.

Actually he says 7-6 Yao Ming, not that Asian Yao Ming. I'm pretty sure he was referring to the height thing.
