This is what is really wrong with the NBA. There shouldnt be any realonships, if a foul is a foul call it, dont let your personal opnions judge the foul. I really hope we get new refs next year, this is ridiculous.

I just want to them to be consistant, call things both ways. I know the league has been trying to do this with their consultant reviews and after game video reviews but it sure doesn't seem to be paying off...if fact it seems worse...

I am in no mood to defend SF, he does complain too much on the court, and he does need to get up from the floor more quickly, otherwise he will be viewed as an actor.

BUT, he is not the only one who complains a lot. He got a lot of T, but some of them were for hanging on the rim, or fisting the opponents.

Golum Sam complains on court all the time! Kobe gives that "why did I get the and-one call" look all the time. Let's not to talk about TD, he complains if refs call him the way other big men are called.

The problem is SF, Cat complains too much on court without any follow-up steps. Those meaningless complaint on the court do not get refs in trouble. You have to have the managements push for penalizing bad refs. That way, refs know their jobs are on the line if they mess up with you.

No kidding. The Blazers game is about to become unwatchable.

I mean, I know the refs are humans. But good F**KING lord, these guys are suppose to be professionals, the best in the world, getting paid six-figure salaries for 6 months of work. Surely they can act more than little kids who just want to "get back" at someone who said mean stuffs to them.

so JVG just complained about everything I complained about in that Chron article.

what i can't believe is how some people thought this was a non issue.

"Yao gets bad call -- crime against humanity, guards get called fouls, their own fault."

    ...

no one is saying that, but even our coach is upset with the foul equitability on yao and the whining by the others.

I think the point JVG is trying to make is just shut and play on the court and let him (coach) handle the refs.. the way SF3 and Cat complain is ineffective and probably gets the refs irritated..

Yao keeps quiet about it and just fights through it.. but in the long run i think it will be to his benefit. As JVG Yao is handling it the right way.

Here are a few ways I address the ref problem from the stands.

HEY REF! Bend over and use your good eye!

HEY REF! Tell your wife to quit calling me!

HEY REF! What game are you watching?!

HEY REF! How much did Mark Cuban pay you for that call?!

HEY REF! Which one of the Lakers are you sleeping with?!

HEY REF! Blow your whistle out of you @$$!

I caught Ronny Nunn (Head of Officials) on NBA TV last night and the Steve F. call was being shown. And he's answer was basically the refs did not have a clear view and could not assume that the contact was that hard and a no call was appropiate!?! I was about to blow a gasket, how many times have we've seen a foul called because the ref is anticipating the foul or assumed it was a foul. I guess he has to protect his guys....probably why the quality of the refs are what they are now.

hey we got two free throws more than the raptors last night! that means there is a home team bias, yeah? since the raptors are an equally, play in the paint team.

Does anybody know what Yao said that resulted in a column in the Chronicle? It said in the paper that they couldn't repeat what he said, so it must have been pretty good. I saw him yelling, but I couldn't quite read his lips.

    Anyone?

I've always hated this type of answer.

Most NBA games among decent teams are very close, at least until the last couple of minutes. Hell, look at most team's point differential: it's seldom much larger than 3 either way. Games come down to the wire - and when they do, bad officiating can significantly affect the result.

It's not reasonable to expect players to continue overcoming hurdles placed in their path. I mean, let's say that all the bad calls against the Rockets equaled 5 points a game: well, that would turn a good team, into a consistent loser.

And in any individual game, you could point to mistakes, things they could have done... etc. But the bottom line would still be that if you lose 5 points a game... you're going to suck.

Agreed. And we're not even talking about 5 points here. Sac & Portland went to the line something like 20 more times than we did. They benefited from quick whistles on their end and no whistles on our end. In a game like that, we could be talking about the opportunity to score easily 30+ more points than your opponent, all because the refs have some chip on their collective shoulder. I'd say that's directly affecting the outcome of the game.
