mfclark, one question, did you finish reading the post? and incase you didn't know one of those 2 will be traded to Toronto if they agree to a S&T. ------------------
mfclark: Miller is available, at least according to leaks. They're really eager to get Davis, and that means giving up quality - nobody's going to take their scrubs. So Outlaw OR Miller is gone... but probably not both. drpepper: I don't think aelliott's EVER been wrong about the CBA. ------------------ Clutchcity.net... source for all your Rockets, Astros, political, music, humor, and Gordita news.
I think if we sign a rookie or FA we have to wait until December 15th before we can trade him. Can somebody tell me if I am right or not? ------------------
Aelliott, what if we sign him july 18, wait two or three months, then do the trade. I believe we have to hold a player for at least 60 days before we can trade him. A player cannot be traded until three months after signing a contract or December 15th of that season, whichever is later. So, we couldn't trade Davis until Dec 15th. Nobody is going to agree to a deal that takes 5 months to complete. ------------------
That is correct and here is Coon's quote on that: A player cannot be traded until three months after signing a contract or December 15th of that season, whichever is later. If the player is playing under a one-year contract and will have Larry Bird or Early Bird rights at the end of the contract, he can't be traded at all. --------------------------------------------- Haven, I haven't seen any indication that drpepper knows what the term CBA stands for. To have drpepper versus aelliott in that topic area is amusing, but a waste of aelliott's talents. Mango ------------------ Get it right or just don't do it! Might Amaechi be available, however, if Orlando feels it needs to dump salary for Davis? ------------------
Merlin, you make it out to sound like the players you listed were end-of-the-bench scrubs. Davis and Outlaw are almost as hard to acquire as the premier free agents:Finley, Webber, and Mutumbo. ------------------ The title will come to ClutchCity once again.
vj--Actually, if the Rockets have the available cap space, Bo Outlaw could be had for a 2nd round pick. Orlando is desperate for cap room, and they're offering Outlaw for anything that will take his salary off the books. If Shandon or Hakeem don't re-sign, I think Rudy takes a long look at making that deal. ------------------
drpepper, CBA stands for Collective Bargaining Agreement and is the agreement between the NBA and Player's Union in regards to player contracts.
