It does sound screwy.. but if we run the table and Texas drops another game or two, we'll definately be ahead of them.
Go Coogs! Gotta support the home team. That Kolb is something else. True freshman playing like a senior. I understand he played for Briles in HS? I guess he knows the system... F**K Barrick Nealy!!
haha. yeah, screw barrick.. traitor.. but yeah, Kolb didn't play for Briles in HS.. he played in the system Briles created at Stephenville HS after Briles left for Tech though. Kolb was on the way to OKState, but he got a phone call about Briles coming to UH, so he stopped the car and turned around for Houston!
Congrats to UH on a fine season so far but as the Michigan game showed UH has no business competing against BCS schools I'm sorry but they just dont have the talent and depth Texas would school UH just like they smoked Rice
Yeah, well Michigan smoked a lot of teams. From the Oklahoma game you could conclude the same thing about Texas.
With all of the East Coast conference shakeups...and the apparent demise or near-demise of Conference USA, what will UH do? I hope the WAC is not an option.
I've heard all kinds of stuff.. from joining the MWC, to nabbing up programs like Marshall, Toledo, etc.. to CUSA joining the Big East to make a gigantic superconference.
good point but Texas' problem is coaching, not player skill and depth if Texas had anyone that knew how to game plan worth a hoot, they would be much better Credit to UH for bringing out the best in their players and for stepping up and playing well still a long way to go in the season though on a side note: TCU and N.Illionis have no business being ranked either
The important thing is that U.H. is getting better at the right time. Conference reallighment is in 2-3 years so we'll see what happens. The WAC is not an option. Either an improved C-USA or another mid/upper level conference is possible. I have heard that TCU and Houston are 2 schools that will most likely travel together, whatever conference that may be. Dont know if that is true or not...
Well lets see, Texas just got their asses handed to them by OU 65-13, and UH lost 50-3 to Michigan, on the road. I dont think theres any room to talk. Now Im not saying that U.H. is ready to compete big time with BCS schools, but U.H. would not get beat by Texas as bad as Rice did. Hell the Coogs beat the crap out of Rice 48-14, very similar to the Texas - Rice score, 48-7.
UH football is best served by leaving it in a lower-tier conference and being competitive against the Tulane's, Louisville's, and TCU's of D-I football. I am not dogging UH football, I am thrilled that they are doing well again!
Maybe so.....and Texas would do themselves a favor by not playing Oklahoma anymore. Too painful to watch. They do much better playing against Tulane & Rice too!
There is no reason why, given the right amount of time, U.H. football cannot compete with the upper-tier of college football. Its the 3rd biggest school in the state of Texas (36,000 students) and is in the middle of one of the biggest recruiting hotbeds in the country. The support is building quickly for the team on campus and from alumni, and were starting to fill the stadium.
Hey I'm playing with Houston in NCAA Football 2003 and I noticed that thye have their own stadium with a view of downtown Houston. When did Houston stop playing in the Astrodome?
Aren't there more D-I teams than that in TX? What about Rice, North Texas, UTEP, SMU, etc? While we're on the subject why did the SMU football program go down the drain? I recall them being a major football power at one time. What happened?
