This is my first post to the bbs. I usually just read all of your post from afar, but with all of this speculation, I just had to throw in my two cents.

What if the sunshine clue means Miami?
And what if the IR clue means Zo?

I don't have any idea how this would work with all of the saleries, league rules, etc., etc. I know it wouldn't help us this year, but that would be a deal worth partying for. Wouldn't you agree?

    Thoughts anyone?

I have a thought, but it would be rude to say it... [IMG]

    floyd: First off, WELCOME!

Second, I doubt it would involve Zo because the Rockets have stated over and over that they simply will not screw up their cap situation. Taking on a guy who gets the max and who may not even play again is definitely not within their plans.

The more logical assumption seems to be that they would want to move salary for salary to allow them space next year. If they did move some of the aforementioned players and kept Hakeem, they would stay under the cap even if they brought in equivalent salary - for example, if they moved Cato for someone with Cato's equivalent salary, Hakeem's free agency at the end of the year still gives them plenty of cap space.

Good to hear from you, floyd. Don't be a stranger! [IMG]

Clutch , what are the chances this deal goes down ? Can you say like 50 percent or something to that affect ? Thank you.

Or Miami can deal straight with Vancouver: cap crap for Reeves. We can deal Cato, Walt, a pick for Reef? Keep Dream?

Man, Clutch, Doc, at least a hint: how soon can a deal happen?

I see a nervous breakdown in the near future if this doesn't go down in the weekend.

There's so much suspense my poor heart can take. And with my girlfriend on vacation, i have WAY too much free time on my heads to torture myself OVER and OVER and AGAIN and AGAIN over possible trade scenarios.

for chrissakes! a man's sanity is at stake here! GET THE DEAL DONE!!!!!!!

It would be very convenient if it was SAR. Vancouver's coming to town,

Excuse me, I don't know if I'm the first one to mention it but it looks as if I am.

IR_x1, Could Just mean Injured Reserve x 1 player.... Meaning Cato...

I don't think it has anything to do with #1 pick, because 1, Hakeem is off the IR (in regards to being the first pick in the draft), Second x1 doesn't really allude to a #1 draft pick in general either.

One player from the Injured Reserve, Cato, is the key. Everyone knows that Miami is in a desparate situation for a center which is a possibility, but who has big on Cato since day one....hint: cold city, awful cold, Chicago.

So when I think of hot cities I don't necessarily think about Phoenix, but thats all a possibility. From the post however of Doc's it would seem that only two teams are involved other then the Rockets.

The only problem with the logic of only two other teams being involved is that there really isn't anything to a."Party" over as Clutch mentioned, and b. that the three teams that would be mingled in with the Rockets really wouldn't get anything satisfactory in return. I don't know, lets look at the variables.

Hot Cities willing to Trade or have needs: Phoenix, Miami, Clippers

    Cold Cities: Chicago, Vancouver

Houston Trades: Hakeem, Kelvin Cato, Walt Williams, 2 #1 picks

Chicago Trades: Brad Miller, Ron Artest, Jamal Crawford

Miami Trades: Cedric Ceballos, Ricky Davis, AC Green, (possibly Eddie House)

    Vancouver Trades: Big Country, SAR

Phoenix Trades: Cliff Robinson, Penny Hardaway, And One of The Foreign Centers (hehe)

    -

Houston gets: Shareef, Miller, Cedric Ceballos

Chicago gets: Cato, Penny Hardaway, Ricky Davis

Vancouver gets: 2 #1 draft picks, Walt Williams, Eddie House, AC Green, One of the Foreign Centers,

Miami gets: Big Country,Cliff Robinson, Jamal Crawford

    Phoenix gets: Hakeem, Ron Artest

    seems fair =)

#1 with us could also refer to Stromile Swift. Perhaps he was the one Rudy would've picked had we gotten the ping pong balls.

Would anyone complain if we traded Cato for Kandi?

Can we even be sure it's Cato? Doc said in the other thread point blank in a response to me that he wasn't being dealt. (things change).

I've run some numbers, and if the Rocket make a deal for Mason with Miami, if we drop Cato, Walt, Los, and KT for picks, we can plausibly fit Mutumbo, Mo, and Mason under the cap (and resign Shandon and Mooch via early bird) with 2 million left for picks. There's the answer to your defensive problems, and rebounding problems, without hurting the offense one bit.

Clutch-Did Doc actually tell you the deal, or did he just tell you everyone would be happy?

When is the trade deadline anyway? Middle of Feb? hmmm..is this thread going to string out for the next couple of weeks? Or will a deal, if it goes at all, come together before then? Anyone?

The rumor is essentially that Michael Jordon is going to sign with the Heat and be traded to Houston for Hakeem. Supposedly, he is still upset that Hakeem was picked before him. What we're trying to figure out is what players and teams are going to be used to fill in the gaps.

ok. Try this on for size.

Vancouver sends SAR to Houston, Bibby and Big Country to chicago.

Houston sends Hakeem, Walt and 1st rounder to Vancouver and releases Chicago to trade their 1st round pic.

Chicago sends 1st round pic, Kalid El-Amin and Fizer to Vancouver.

    Rockets Line up:
    Francis/Mooche
    Cat/Shandon
    Reef/Shandon/Langhi
    Mo/KT/Los
Cato(when healthy)/Collier Damn that would be an athletic team.

    Bulls Line up:

    Bibby / Bryce Drew
    Mercer / Hoiberg
    Artest / Corey Benjamen
    Brand / Micheal Ruffin
Reeves / Brad Miller Not a great team but signifigantly better than before the trade.

Vancouver Gets some young players in Fizer and El-Amen, two 1st rounders, Dream, Walt and a lot of cap space at the end of the year.

Maybe this means that Phoenix is trying to get Cato & that the Vancouver trade discussions, which may have died down, are being renewed again? The last part might mean that the Vancouver discussions have the inside track as being the best offer so far.

This is a fun & very frustrating game. How about another parable Doc?

hottoddie, sounds like the sanest scenario yet...........thanks for the mind bender doc, we may need another parable.........

    ------------------
remember this doc rocket blast from the past:
........ go HARD after Webber (Which they are I ASSURE you!! ), go hard after Marc Jackson, resign MO, get Shandon to exercise his player option, keep Mo hopefully, draft well, and by this I mean, dump all the picks to move up and get a Griffin or someone along those lines!

of these scenarios, the talk involving Webber would certainly placate all rocket fans and justify throwing a party..... Marc Jackson would be a great acquisition but may be a tough deal......chicago's pick would certainly be a great coup........

    more clues, doc........
