I'm sure @FLASH21 and @Smacktle have a perfectly good explanation as to why this is this case. Just ask em lol
1st round had cheaper ticket prices. Meaning fans who don't give a F show up and cheer. The more expensive the ticket the more chances a white collar corporate person will go to the game. And they don't cheer as much.
The crowds were bad in the 90's too. People have always made excuses like , " it was on Mother's Day", "It was on Easter" and "Traffic is terrible" as if every other city doesn't have traffic or celebrate those days. Houston fans suck when it comes to basketball. If people cared, I wouldn't have to listen to San Antonio radio that covers the Rockets better than any of the Houston stations do. Also, the Toyota Center does nothing to help the cause. It feels like a hospital to me. The acoustics of the arena almost seem to deaden sound vibrations. The scoreboard is awesome, but that's really all it has going for it.
Dude I saw a regular season game at oracle vs the rockets and their crowd was playoff ready The tickets are stupid expensive but they are accessible to all fans . But you are right . It's better to go on a mini trip to the Spurs game and hang out with die hard rockets fans instead of corporate customers
There are other teams as bad. The Wizards and the Bulls. It's almost the same as with the Rockets. Very expensive tickets that are bought by corporations who don't care to even watch the game.
It was hard to watch and the refs really killed our momentum with that offensive foul on Beverley where Harden should have gotten the dunk and instead we got a whatever point swing going the other way. Totally depressing, man.
the Cavs crowd doesn't sound all that special either the Celtics, Raptors, Warriors, and Jazz having louder crowds is to be expected, but people need to stop acting like our crowd has been so much worse than every single other team in the playoffs
I went to 3 Academy's in the city, looking for a Rockets shirt, and each had 4 of the same shirts all XL, but had walls and racks of Astros and Texans stuff. The Rockets just made it to the second round and these guys are stocking up on Texans/Astros t-shirts. Can the Rockets at least get 2 racks? They have just as much Dynamo stuff as Rockets stuff. Its crazy.
Tickets too high, can't resell on flash seats. Parking sucks. They screw you out of $1 hot dogs. The light sticks they give you are pathetically cheap pieces of crap. The food sucks and the beer selection is limited.
I was there last night. It was packed. It was loud. But the Rockets were pretty awful and the refs were even worse. Eventually the Rockets lost the fans.
There was in the 90s. And back then the Houston football team was much better too Les needs to figure out what he is doing wrong. There were lots of spurs fans there
No, I've noticed it for years. Lower bowl tickets go to corporate entities, they pass the tickets around ultimately landing into the hands of half-ass fans who show up late in their work clothes and probably leave early. You know which ones they are because they have the Rockets playoff shirts stuffed around their work clothes. It will never change as long as money is involved. No way Les Alexander goes down on ticket prices. Its also weird because other stadiums (Oracle Arena) do fantastic with energy in the lower bowl.
We are a football town. There are plenty of players in the NFL that credit NRG with being one of if not the most noisy stadiums in the league. We didn't cheat like Seattle and make a stadium that amps crowd noise naturally.
How is it those bandwagon Warriors fan can generate more noise than us? Those clowns only started watching basketball 3 years ago and probably just cheering for free tacos, but at least they make noise. Can't believe people were still in their seats when Harden put that dunk down
