I'd argue that without Pop's guidance, Tony Parker would not be the MVP-caliber player he is today. Yes, he made some mistakes in last year's finals (his biggest one was taking out Duncan in Game 6, but you can't really blame him for not fouling on Ray Allen's 3, that play was a wild scramble), but what multiple championship winning coaches are not blessed with great players? Are Phil Jackson's and Red Auerbach's legacies tainted by the long list of all-time greats they had on their teams? I think you're wildly underrating Pop's coaching career just because of his few, albeit costly, mistakes in last year's finals.
Meh, I dunno. He makes me miss JVG and his offense made my skin crawl. KM's game time decisions and getting his players to be overachievers instead of underachievers has me believing he could be out coached by monkey poo stuck to a wall. Luckily D12 hit his free throws when pop decided to try to hack a Howard. Didn't vote cuz "none of the above" was not a option.
Pop outcoached himself. Too bad he picked the wrong night to hack Dwight when he made 52%. Should have hack Jones or Casspi at high school and primary school level of 37.5% and 20% respectively.
Mchale will never out coach Pop. I have my doubts that Mchale will ever out coach anybody, but I'm still hoping, as long as he is the Rockets coach.
