Can someone e-mail this JVG. This is what the Rockets need to do rest the starters for at least the next three games. Have them play some the last three games to get ready for the playoffs.
i really don't understand why many of you think these games arent meaningful? Utah is handing us the homecourt and we dont want it!!! If we would have won the last 2 home games we would be ahead right now. Can you imagine playing a game 7 in Utah (who has one of the best home records) vs. playing at home? That is huge! i dont think i can take another game 7 loss in the first round.
Utah has been scoreboard watching, I am not sure they would have lost the last two if the Rockets were winning. I think Houston has settled for the number 5 seed, and I do agree with your point about homecourt, I just think somewhere along the line someone made the call that killing the team to try for home court is not as good as going into the playoffs rested and healthy. DD
DD's solution: Let Big Jake, Snyder, VSpan, Bonzi, and JohnJohn play the whole game. See how much they can develop being beat by 50.
Sounds good, if the team is going to get beat, might as well find out what you have on the bench for next year. DD
Hardly a shocking indictment of an organization that it is a meritocracy. If Bonzi and VMac didn't stink, I'm sure they would play more.
I don't care if we get fourth or fifth. I entirely believe that the Rockets will beat the Jazz in a seven-game series. The only way the Jazz can beat us is if we get outcoached, and it would entirely be Van Gundy's fault if we lose that series barring any major injury to Mac or Yao. I'm cool if we actually rested our starters down the stretch here and especially give Bonzi a chance to prove himself into a playoff rotation. I also want either Lucas or V-Span to get more playing time to warm up to actual competition because we're going to need that extra point guard in a playoff series. Every projected Western Conference team we'll face will have a couple of deep point guards and honestly, if Rafer's not doing the trick, I'd rather have Lucas in crunch time than Rafer crumbling into a fetal position. Size disadvantage be damned, at least Lucas has guts.
I don't like losing, but I don't think its the end of the world. I've seen what this team can do, and I look forward to being able to test it out against the Jazz in the Playoffs.
The 25th pick and the MLE might be enough. This board has always said that the Rox are just one piece away from being bonafide contenders. This is the 25th pick in a deep draft. If they can get some 6'7-6'9 guy who can play big guard (Kirk really isn't cutting it), our own Josh Howard, I'd be happy. Rox have been able to get guys who were considered great deals using the MLE: DA, Stro, Bonzi. Plus, they still have promising prospects in Steve and Vassilis. So, yes, I am excited with the prospect of the Rockets heading into the regular season as favorites for a change.
