I have to agree. I am a bit surprised that CD did not know anything about this considering he is the GM of the team! That is odd. I can see Larry Smith being out of the loop but CD? Seems odd to me.

I really wonder if the Van Gundy rumors with Cleveland sped up the process of determining if Rudy will come back this upcoming season.

Penny got a lot of crap for what he and the Magic players did to Brian Hill. That moment marked the beginning of his decent into mediocrity.

As far as what guys like MJ and Tragic did, at least they were great players who were proven winners in this league. Ok, MJ hadn't won a title yet, but he'd won MVPs, scoring titles, and led his team to the conference finals.

What the hell has Francis ever done in his career? A co-Rookie of the Year award and 2 All-Star appearances which were owed more to the fans than his play on the court.

Look, I like the guy as a player. I think he's got a ton of talent and I think all these "trade Steve" threads are insane. You don't come across guys who average 20, 6 and 6 very often. But quite honestly, he hasn't shown a lot of maturity or leadership skills during his 4-year tenure with the Rockets. So yes, I do get very pissed off when he opens his trap and says things like "if Rudy goes, I go" after he's played like crap down the stretch and failed to make the playoffs yet again.

Best thing for Steve to do right now is shut the hell up, bust his ass during the offseason, and come back wanting to prove he's a winner. It worked wonders for Marbury this season, and his stock last year was about as low as Steve's is at the moment.

kidrock - the only person in the world that thinks the Rockets got the bad end of the SF trade.

Which of those players are you dying to have back right now? Dickerson? Othella? The Rockets would take getting "duped" a dozen more times that way. The Steve hating has gone way overboard. It is no longer about basketball, just a bunch of personal attacks about someone that none of us know personally. Just plain ignorance.

methinks rudy will take over CD's job. cd will be effectively neutered (consultant).

keep our strength trainer. otherwise, let's clean out the coaching staff.

depends on the context. If he said that if Rudy was fired he'd want to leave ok. But what if Rudy really did decide to leave? If the only two people who knew this was going down were Rudy and Les this very well could have been Rudy's call since Les would likely have talked it over with somebody... Regardless Steve was showing loyalty. Since Rudy is still involved with the team then he can stay regardless. Still, its all pointless until we see who is brought in and how he wants to run the team...

I think Yao won't be mad.....but kinda sad, because Rudy was his first head coach in the NBA and I believe they developed a friendship because Yao seems to be a loyal type of guy...and he listened to coach....and now he has to adjust again. But hopefully it's to benefit.............

Francis is pissed...but he can't leave. Hope not. UNLESS KG COMES!!!!! :D

    But sad. :(

Mo Taylor and Glen Rice will be sad because now Glen Rice will probably get no playing time at all since he doesn't have his fellow Wolverine or Michigan guy coaching. Mo Taylor.....I think he will be given the starting position with the new coach...that's what I think.

Cato would probably be sad...because he seems loyal too and backs his people up....with his 7 million a year.

Moochie will be mad because Steve is mad.

Mobley.....well he will just be thankful as long as he is not traded for now and the team is still together.

    Just sad. :(

I guess you didn't know that Steve always busts his ass during the offseason.

    Oski -

It's been noted that Steve works hard, unfortunately, it's on his cross-over, and his shot and his physique, rather than his passing and his defense. When he buys a vowel and works on something that MEANS something then I and others WILL back off. I promise! ;)

It doesnt take a Professor to see the differences. The evidence of personality, sincerity, character and stability is presented daily by the media. The posters on Clutch BBS that have personal contact/friendship also help paint the pictures at regular intervals.

True That! After flushing yet another season down the toilet, Stevie "Franchise" would be better served to go have a Coke and a smile and shut the F@#K up!

i'm positive yao feels exactly the same way as steve does only he's more likely to hide his feelings to the media saving him the beating steve seems to get for being a loyal player.

i think the rocs knows its time to show what they really got.. at least for rudy.. by steeping down, rudy gave the rocs another opportunity to go to the playoffs. by an addition of the new coach, hopefully LARRY BROWN, we might go all the way. and if i was a player of the rocs, i will try my best to win the championship in dedication of rudy.. now, wouldnt be something to look forward to this season. i hope with rudy's move, the rocs will learn how to play together and win this season for rudy!!!

Agree. What about loyalty to the organization and all the fans that follow and support them. After all, their salaries is paid by the Owner and indirectly by the fans. Their loyalty should be to the team and not all to an individual. That what is so great about Rudy. He is loyal to the Rockets no mattter what. In fairness to everyone, the Rockets are the one that pick him in the draft and give him an opportunity to make a name for himself. He had contributely greatly to the organization and Rudy was also got reward for it by the Rockets all this years.
So, I don't think Steve will demand a trade or cause any distraction. He was just showing his support and deep feeling for Rudy. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Yao also probably feel along the same line since Rudy is his first coach. You will alway have a special feeling in your heart for those that help you initially to adjust to a new situation. But Yao is also mature enough to realize that if it's happen for the better of the team then he wouldn't have any problem with that. So, overall I am sure the players are all going to be sad but hopefully they will play harder and realize that they are the main cause of Rudy's stepping down.
