How are the warriors so good? Curry. Watch them today without him against a second grade Raptors team and no one can get an open shot, theyre currently down 13 heading into the second quarter. The organization, coaches, owners, fans have all realized and benefited off his greatness. I dont even like the guy but damn to think we were comparing Harden to him was shortsighted
Whatever- Big shout out to the flipping Grizzlies who can name three guys off their starting line up and they are 18- 10 without their best player! That is solid coaching and team basketball!
Curry without question. I will admit 3-4 years ago I thought he was overrated. I was wrong. He might be a top ten player of all-time.
it's depressing that Hoop Central and a lot of the public really think this. 3 point attempts have basically gone up steadily ever since they were introduced and have seen a surge the last decade because analytics finally convinced everyone that 3's were worth more than 2's. people think pj tucker started shooting corner 3's because he saw steph curry launch a 30 footer and not because his team realized it was just a more valuable shot?
then why did they miss the playoffs last year? curry is probably having his worst season since 2013 and is certainly playing worse than last year, and yet they have gone from missing the playoffs to the 1st seed. saying it's all curry is just ignoring the evidence. they were a good defense last year. they are historic this year. if curry is so much better than harden, then why did curry with 3 other hall of famers need a chris paul injury to save him against harden? shouldn't that have been like a fairly easy sweep if curry is so much better considering the other talent advantages? why did steph play so much worse than harden the next year in their head to head playoff matchup if he's so much better. hell, why are his overall numbers in the 3 head to head matchups with harden worse than harden's? why are their prime playoff numbers (2015 to 2020) nearly identical? and why are their dropoffs from the regular season to the playoffs nearly identical? steph being better this year doesn't somehow retroactively make him better than he was. steph certainly had an advantage over harden in 2016 and probably even 2017 since harden sucked so much in game 6 against the spurs, but since then? 2018 would have to be advantage harden considering he won mvp, had better playoff numbers, and steph almost lost with the most talented roster ever before an injury saved him, 2019 was a landslide for harden, and 2020 harden had regular season and postseason numbers that would be better than basically any steph season except 2016 (regular season only). last year was pretty even in terms of when they actually played but i guess steph would get the win for being the healthy one for once.
I need a Nets-Warriors finals KD, Harden, and Kyrie vs Steph, Klay, and Draymond…watch the ratings completely blow away the mediocre viewership of Milwaukee-PHX Nets-Warriors could pull in 20 mil viewers each game doubling last year’s finals
It is little of both but you ain't wrong here. Dudes like Trae Young and other youngins are loving to shoot from everywhere, that is because of Steph.
Because Oubre averaged 30 mpg and literally had a negative impact on the court. His full season RAPTOR rating was -2.7.
Try applying this logic to the 2004 finals between the Lakers and Pistons. Harden outplayed Curry in 2019. Curry outplayed Harden in 2015 and 2014 (though it was 1 game b/c Curry got hurt in game 2). Also, you're evaluating dropoffs incorrectly. You have to look at the result. Curry's regular season percentages were so high that even if they drop 5 percentage points, he's still shooting above average. Since Harden's regular season percentages were average to above-average, a dropoff of 5 percentage points was devastating for the Rockets. Look at their shooting percentages. Curry dwarfs Harden, and it's not close. You won't be able to convince anyone objective that Harden outplayed Curry when Curry shot significantly better.
I never said it was ALL Curry. It is just the main reason they are so damn great. It doesn't negate the fact that Wiseman and Oubre were hot garbage last year and were also net negatives for GSW. With respect to the Harden chat, both are great players. But Curry vs. Harden for me anyway isn't really a comparison anymore.
One of the reason GS looks so good is because most other teams are sucking. Remember when the west was 6 deep in good teams? 2 this year (Suns / Utah) besides themselves. 3 Total.
