Anyone else notice all the birds? Tired of being trapped in the house I made my way to the garage yesterday ,opened the door, got a lawn chair, and looked at things. There were a lot of birds. This morning the same thing. I have never seen so many different kinds birds. I wish I knew what I was looking at.

Yep. I have seen just about every type down in this area from robins to yellow breasted chaps to dove to chickadees. As soon as the yards were all white, I dumped a big bag of bird seed all over the yard. They gotta eat too.

I brought up the birds about 20 pages ago! I want my credit! ;)

I had a stretch of about 30 hours where I mostly had no power but it was restored in full about 4 pm Tuesday and has been on ever since. So, I’m thankful for that!

my biggest problem right now is I started taking dog on leash outside to do her business cause I wanted to monitor her outside as she was falling. Apparently, I don’t move fast enough for her because, from the time I get the tell to when I can get the coat on and out the door, she’s already pissing in my house. So, f*ck you dog! I’ll just let her out off leash now as anything is better than cleaning up dog piss. And, she walks around when she does it. I had a splatter trail through the kitchen. Fun. :(

According to the CDC re boil water notices, you can shower in it. Can also run dishwasher (turn on Sanitizer) and wash clothes.. Just don't swallow any water. Best to just give babies a bath with a wet rag using water that has been boiled.

I could be wrong, but showering is probably okay. My understanding is the boil water notice is more for cooking and consuming.

I have definitely taken a shower in that ****.

I had a strange problem on Tuesday morning. I woke up after going all night without power. All my faucets were dripping. None of the faucets had hot water coming out. I thought something was froze up. But, as soon as my power came back, my hot water came back. I have a Rheem gas water heater. I believe that it still requires electricity for the electronics on it to work. What I don’t get is why did I get no water versus cold water when turning on hot faucets when the power was out? Did the water in the tank freeze and then thaw when power came back? The hot water and pressure seemed instantly back when the power came back on. Not sure?

I always thought gas water heaters were supposed to work without power but that is not the case because they have these fancy powered control boxes now. You bastards!

The heaters I've had in the past did work during an outage. Gas would still be hot but electric would obviously be cold (unless it just shut off). You should have had water coming out of the hot pipe regardless. You could have had a frozen pipe but gotten lucky in that it didn't expand enough to burst.

But now you've got me thinking. I have a gas powered tankless but it also has electronic board and controls so I have a gut feeling I'll be out of luck if I lose power. Off to google I go...

Edit: and yes I'll be out of luck...son of a...

Has anyone been looking to the east on Radar? That's some nice snow out over SA. Will be interesting to see if it makes it here.

San Antonio is west, South Africa is east.

Yes, there's snow in the hill country, doubtful it hits Houston.
