As a lifer in Houston, this is by far the best snow ever. I've never had streets cover in white ever. We may never see this again, enjoy it if you don't have blackouts.

Power has been out since 3, thankful for gas powered fireplaces, water heaters and stoves. My kids could care less about the power, they're outside throwing snowballs.

Cell service is horrendous though, how can sprint merge with t-mobile and now have more towers and suck this bad?

I've been on generator power since about 2 am. Starting to think this blackout isn't going to roll any time soon. I feel terrible for my neighbors they have to be absolutely freezing right now.

Power went out at 2 got 3 hours of sleep because I can’t sleep without white noise listening to my old ass dog snore. Waiting on my 2 year old to wake up. Should be a fun day.

If water isn’t working right now does that mean frozen pipe?

For some of y’all whose power has been out for “hours”, something is probably wrong. These rolling blackouts should only last about 15-45 minutes or so, I think. Contact your electric company.

Still have power in west houston, for now. Someone not too far from me said they lost power, and lots of power outage reports in spring branch.

Went outside around 7:15 this morning. Kids got cold and went inside, so i went out by myself for a little bit. Have a work meeting, but dont know if the other people have power or not. It's definitely the coldest I've ever felt.

    Stay warm clutchfans.

Not necessarily, I’ve seen some water outages too.
    Do you hear any gurgling?

Any tips for driving in snow?

Parents have been without power for a while and my mom has a weaker immune system due to cancer(in remission). May be getting too cold for her in the house and will probably pick her up.

Never driven in snow so don't know if my tires are up to it. I have a subaru on all-season tires. I should be able to drive in this snow right?

You can, avoid elevated roads if possible. Take it slow. If you start to slide, don’t slam on the brakes, pump them (lol yes literally pump the brakes).

Just go slow and keep a good distance from anyone/anything else.

The keys are: (1) no sudden moves, (2) go slowly, and (3) if you start to skid and drift, gently steer into it, which is counter-intuitive.

So basically, try to drive in the opposite manner of a normal Houston driver.
