It saddens me when people believe this type of hype. Here's a history of Houston Temps on Christmas day since 1890. FYI, I've lived here nearly 50 years. Houston has not warmed in any significant factor. https://billyforney3.com/2018/12/14/christmas-day-weather-in-houston/
average temps each month Month ..... 1970..... Present ..... Difference January..... 53.6...... 57.9.......4.3 February ..... 55.8 ..... 56.9..... 1.1 March ..... 61.3 ..... 71 ..... 9.7 April ..... 68.5 ..... 70.8 ..... 2.3 May ..... 76 ..... 78 ..... 2 June..... 81.6..... 82.5 ..... 0.9 July ..... 83..... 86.6 ..... 3.6 August..... 83.2..... 86.6 ..... 3.4 September ..... 79.2 ..... 83.9 ..... 4.7 October ..... 71.4 ..... 71.8 ..... 0.4 November ..... 60.8 ..... 60 ..... -0.8 December..... 55.7..... 57.6 ..... 1.9 July and August Average Temps have been 3.5 degrees F higher than they were 50 years ago. This is over 5 times as much data than the 130 years of Christmas's.
Its not just overall "warming"... its the extreme fluctuations as well. The Houston area has also had 3 "100 year" storms over the last 20 years... but maybe that's just an anomaly.
Part anomaly, part bad development planning. On the 3 "100-year" storms in the last 20 years, that is an understatement at least for my area. We are at 5 for last 20 years and 4 in the last 8 with 2 of the events breaking the 500-year storm mark.
You could also tell fatty about the encroachment of the Chihuahuan Desert into Central Texas, not sure it would do any good though.
Really? You need a link to the National Weather Service Website? https://www.weather.gov/hgx/climate_iah_normals_summary I used 2019/2020 data for Present. I used the Normal Monthly Temperatures, from the Normals, Mean, and Extremes Table from the 1970 Local Climatological Data which I took as more representative of the climate for 1970. Feel free to use the Meteorological Data For Current Year Table from the 1970 Local Climatological Data. 1970 was a slightly colder year than average for 50 years ago by a couple of degrees which I felt would exaggerate the change.
This is why I asked for your link (which you didn't provide) 1933 Average temp: 70.9 (per your link) 2019 Average temp: 71
Number of years with a 70+ annual average 1933-1970 (37 years) - 7 2000-2020 (20 years) - 13 Hmmmm Average temp increase .7 degrees between the spans of 1933-1970 and 1981-2010
