Yes... living in DFW, tons of houses around here always have foundation issues because of the constant rain/drought/rain/drought cycle. A lot of new houses are sometimes installed with soaker hose systems connected as a zone on the sprinkler systems. My house, both houses on either side, and at least one across the street from me had foundation issues. No issues after the "repair", though, for me. I've heard it may be debatable if using a soaker hose helps all that much but I guess it's better than nothing. Just make sure you put the hose at least a foot away from the foundation and not right up against it. Clay soil sucks.
I was going to say the compressor may be failing, but who knows. Wonder if it's something like the fan guard/grate/something else is loose and vibrating. I got a new AC back in 2015 and it died within 2 years. There was a labor warranty on it for 2 years. So, of course, after 2 years and 2 weeks it died. Ended up having to pay $1000-$2000 to replace the still-under warranty compressor mostly because of the "freon" they had to put back into it. I had the same issue a year or two ago with my house that nobody could figure out until a company came out and replaced both damper motors on my house and I still wasn't getting air upstairs. Eventually I punched a hole in the duct and felt for air - no air. Called them back out. The issue was never the damper motors (there were 2) but rather the flaps/dampers themselves were stuck (well, one was). Initially I told them the one they replaced couldn't have been the issue since it didn't affect the zone that was having the issue, so they came back and said "you're right" and replaced the other one, too. They gave me the first one for free since it didn't need to be replaced and replaced the 2nd motor. Now I was still having a problem with no air getting upstairs. We thought the system was possessed because with both motors replaced and seemingly working, no idea why the air wouldn't get upstairs. It ended up they found the flap/damper itself was stuck and never opening when it was supposed to. They reached in and manually "popped" it. Another time, my AC would shut down as temps got hotter. I had AC guys tell me I needed to replace the unit. I was like "the compressor's already been replaced once under warranty and that was just about 3 years ago." Another guy came out and said my coil inside the unit was caked in dirt. This despite me "washing" the outside of the uni (because I wasn't trying to clean the damn condenser coils themselves... lol). He opened it up and cleaned the actual coils themselves and the AC has worked perfectly ever since. A lot of these AC guys say to replace the entire unit no matter what the issue because odds are good your issue would be fixed since you just replaced damn-near everything. Back in 2015, replacing my 5-ton unit and the evap coil in the attic cost $5000. I've seen some prices on quotes nowadays, and those price tags have definitely jacked up.
We get a lot of episodes of the power going out then quickly coming back on for some reason here in Kingwood. Thing is...every time it happens, my downstairs unit stops blowing cold air or doesn't even click back on again. Happened again on Friday afternoon. I called my normal AC company (MADD Air...they're awesome) and their voicemail said to turn off the thermostat and breaker for at least an hour, then turn them back on again. What do you know, it actually worked. A shady AC company could have told me I needed an entire new unit....and I probably would have believed them. Always get a 2nd opinion!
Good Rain, it's been awhile Right on my pos, right in my perimeter I just went outside and stood in it. I am soaking ****ing wet, I love it, if just for a minute
Massive downpour for over an hour this morning in Kingwood. I can turn off my sprinkler system for a while.
I am at work off 290 and Hempstead and we had like a 3 minute sprinkle I hope that was just the appetizer
Strong winds tonight. Lower the basketball goals, clear the backyard and chop down those long branches
DFW is getting hammered by strong wind gusts right now. Some of the strongest non-storm wind gusts I can recall. Howling!
We're about to go from a high around 65-70 to a high of 29 and low around 12 in a matter of 3 or 4 days by next Monday... the fun is just coming.
LOL: I was just looking around the yard at the trees, wind is HOWLING, decided to move my truck to safer environs because there's old big limbs over it, opened the door and the wind damn near took my shoulder out of socket as it slammed open.
It'll be fine if you had a Tacoma, the superior work truck, not a pavement princess like a Sierra Denali.
