Now if he would just disappear all together. My only fear is that he is going to do analyst work for a year and the Lions will hire him to replace Millen as President.
Spurrier is a p***y...Did he really expect things to be as easy as they were in college? He had a bottomless talent pool down in Florida to go along with the great weather and his own reputation to sell to high school kids. He almost didn't need to recruit. Plus, he got to play cupcake non conference games like Citadel, Louisana-Monroe, and Central Ohio Barber College to pad his schedule... The least he could have done was stick around for the length of the contract. Hell, he probably would have been fired next year anyways...
I cant stand the guy. He is so cocky and obviously didnt back it up. I am kind of upset that he didnt stay in Washington though because I liked watching him get his ass kicked every weekend.
Dan Snyder takes over the Redskins and Fires Charlie Casserly. 3 or 4 coaches later he finally get's his man. Steve Spurrier was supposed to turn the Redskins into a contender. 2 years and 12 wins later the highest paid coach in the league resigns. That franchise has become one of the most pathetic franchises in sports since Snyder bought it.
Nebraska will never be dominant again, IMHO, what's hard to understand about that. My post has nothing to do with Spurrier.
I guess I really don't understand what all the hoopla is about with regards to Spurrier? What reason do we have to give one molecule of crapola about this coach? Do we have a lot of Spurrier fans around here or something? Three threads and probably more that I haven't seen on a loser coach. I don't see any of the other NFL coaches who got fired getting any forum time. Just wondering. Somebody please let me know why anyone here cares about Spurrier? Does he have a connection to Texas or Texas sports?
why do you say that? The Huskers will be fine, every program has it`s ups and downs and I admit the past two seasons havent been great but they`ll be back
Yeah...thats what I was wondering. I thought they had a nice bounceback year. Not quite up to Nebraska standards, but not horrible. They should be right back in the hunt in a year or two, especially since Lord will be gone.
Thank GOD. I am not a fan of Lord and as a matter of fact everytime he would throw the ball I would hold my breath. The local Omaha stations are fasinated with Spurrier, but I cannot see him coming to Lincoln. The Huskers have a few quality QB`s in the wings and I think they are about to turn the corner and rely less on the option and rely more on the passing game although our defense will be even better next year.
Wow, a serious A-Train post in the hangout!! Seriously, you are dead on about Spurrier's pussyness in scheduling opponents. I don't care how great of a coach he is but the fact remains that he got tired of Florida getting their ass handed to them by Miami. As long as I live, I hope I NEVER see Miami lose to the f*cking Gators. God, how I despise that school and Spurrier (as well as Zookie).
I meant to add that Florida played Miami every season from like at least the '50s through 1987 and then Florida didn't want to play Miami anymore. It wasn't until the 2001 Sugar Bowl that they started playing each other again. This past season's game will be the last one between the 2 schools for quite some time (I think).
I bet Spurrier already has something lined up since he is leaving all that money in Washington, but I would love for him to coach UT. If Mack blows the Holliday bowl this year maybe they will look at Spurrier to get them to the next level.
They have a great QB headed their way from Tucker, GA. He is the real deal, folks. A 98 mph fastball, throws a football 80 plus yards and add some 4.35 speed in there gives you a future all-American. But Spurrier would never go to Nebraska. I really think he will stay retired.
I feel sorry for Lord. Every interview/article I've heard/read about him really portrays him as a good kid in a terrible situation. A blind man can see that he can not be the QB for a program with expectations as high as those of Nebraska's. He could have made a very good RB, DB, or maybe even a WR. I'm hoping that someone takes a gamble on him and moves him to one of said positions.
