till Jan.2010 to get his rhythm back (about >1 month)? Then showcase him and trade him before the deadline.

He and the organization go farther and farther recently. That's not good for both him and Rox. Coach can decide who plays and how many minutes to play. If Rick really does not know "how he fits in current Rox". This's a way to go

I dont want to see T-MAC being AI more and more, that's very risky for his future. He can NOT be over the coach and the team, the organization to do whatever he wants.

I know some people think ridiculous, but If he accepts that shows he's very humble. We will have quiet time then

There is not such example in NBA before. Anyone with me? Flame me ;) ;)

That would be the funniest thing ever.

Adelman: Ok Tracy, suit up. You're gonna get to play your first game this season
McGrady: About damn time. I knew you'd stop being so old and dumb and---
Adelman: You're playing in Rio Grande Valley

I don't think he deserves to be put on a "minor league" assignment. What is he going to show down there that would be worth anything as far as driving up his trade value? That he can hold his own against guys without NBA level talent?

methinks only players with less than 2 yrs of NBA experience qualify...

but yes...I would love to see the look on his face

Great idea. But in any case, he has to go through at least one FULL PRACTICE with the Houston Rockets. This has to do with his physical health and his understanding of the system.

I would argue that a couple of full rockets practices are more useful than D-League game. Additionally, D-League will be risky because everyone is trying to win there whereas as practice is a more controlled environment.

How does he looks sitting on the bench now?

Playing in games is not a shame. He can score 100+pts every game there. He will gain confidence back. I think this gives a solution to him and Rox

No former superstar did that. But playing in the games is good for the one coming back from major surgery in not enough recovery time

This is unprecedented. T-Mac will make the history

If baseball players can play in the minor leagues when coming off a prolonged injury, why can't NBA players?

I thought the whole point of the D-League was for it to operate similar to a minor league system. The OP's idea makes sense. McGrady would never go for it, though.

And if he got hurt during a game there?

What a great idea that would have been. Getting a 23 mil asset injured because some d-league player wanted to prove he can "gaurd" t-mac.

I understand injuries happen during NBA games, but I'd much rather his paycheck go towards winning NBA games

You're talking about a guy that won't even sign a ball in the Rio Grande. Yet alone play there.

The problem is that Rick does not know how T-Mac fits in current Rox team. It might imply Rick may not want T-Mac to gain back his rhythm by playing and in the cost of destroying the chemistry. The organization might not have a long term plan on T-Mac now with so many drama and distraction going on.
