Your not the only person, I thought he did great. However, he is even a year older now than he was then and he could hardly jump....how much does he have left in his tank?
That's a good question, but the same question should be directed at Jim Jackson since he's the same age as Weatherspoon.
Wouldn't it be weird to have JJ and KK on the same team? What, have we changed from the Houston Rockets to the Houston Alphabet? WHat if KK middle name was Kevin? Then he'd be KKK! Wow, he could wear a hood at home games with the white jersey, or be the grand master on the road! HA! Kidding, I'd probably do it only if Kittles could play the point (bring the ball up, pass, and get open for the kick out) and be content with that.
Acquiring Kittles doesn't solve any of our problems. We have to trade him or let him go as a FA to bring in someone else to play PG or backup center. That means we could be losing a 6'9'' PF who can score, and not solving our PG problem. Sure, it would be nice to get relief from Mo's contract, but with Yao and T-Mac, we need to win now, not play for next year.
So Pasox, Lemme understand this. Other teams are willing to let go of good players, as long as you take one of their bad players also. And obviously, most of your deals include Mo and the TE ............so .............essentially, Mo can bring us a good player as long as we take a bad player in return?? How does that benefit the other team, since they would essentially be giving up a good player and a bad play for 1 bad player??
So we give up one bad contract, and a player from a position where we are already thin, for another bad contract and a player from a position where we are heavy................ Net gain zero it would seem.
I was about to say the same thing, comparing those 2 is like comparing Charles JOnes and Karl Molone.
exactly. It's not like getting rid of him for nothing(which is what Kittles is: expiring contract fodder) gets us under the cap enough to be players for a FA forward next year. I like having MoT for insurance in case Juwan goes down. I don't want to see Spoon on the floor at all, much less count on him for 15mpg. I don't want to have to count on Braggs/Padgett again either. Would I prefer trading away Mo for a comparable pf that has a better contract? yeah, but it ain't happening. Would I prefer to get rid of him for nothing, just so we can try to go overpay some fa scrub as a replacement for him? no thanks. Going round in circles. And if having Kittles contract would get better players than MoT, then the Nets can do better than MoT as well.
Mo's contract is not a bigger problem than our PF/C rotation would be without him. Yao and Juwan, with only Spoon behind them? I don't think that lineup makes it to the WCF. I know Mo isn't Elgin Baylor, but his 10 points and consistent jumpshooting from 15 feet is what we need off of the bench. Plus, he's a good starting option should Juwan go down. Yes, I would trade him, but only for the right deal. I don't think Kittles is the right deal. Bottom line, I don't think adding Kittles and subtracting Mo makes us closer to the title.
I think it's fair to say the chances of Spoon playing 12 quality minutes are just as good as JJ playing 39 quality minutes again next season.
You know guys, what's kind of interesting is the talks with the Clippers for a Wilcox-for-Kittles deal are described as "Serious". That's interesting to me. Maybe the Clippers don't want to match the deal for Q? They might be thinking more along the lines of trading Kittles again later, too. Wilcox is obviously an attractive backup power forward/center option for the Rockets, but I can't think what we could offer that the Clips want. If it's just expiring money - they can have the TE of, course. But it has to be more than that. I'm not sure I understand what else they are after. I figured there wasn't enough of a reason for the Clips to part with Wilcox, so I moved on to think maybe NJ would have to make do with a Mo T, who I thought really could play with Jason Kidd getting him and Jefferson the ball in the lane. What do you think about that? I wonder why the Clips would take more than one phone call. They have to have some kind of interest to keep discussions active. Looking at the roster, it looks more like the Clips could use an experienced point guard, to help bring Livingston along. It looks like they really need Wilcox, with Brand injured sometimes and Kamen not steady. But here they are in talks to move Wilcox for Kittles and his contract. What do you think about that? What does it tell you about the market?
Well, if you only have Howard and Spoon, what do you do if Howard goes down, and you have Spoon only playing 12 quality minutes of Basketball? What happens to the other 3 quaters of ball?
This trade is not that outrageous , i believe JJ would be our point guard with KK being our sg and Tmac being the sf and Kittles can shoot and has 10 million that comes off the books in a year .
Juwan Howard has been injury free for pretty much his entire career and consistently plays +35 mintes every single season. His game totals the past four seasons are 81, 81, 77, and 81. The guy's an iron man. The chances of him getting injured are much less likely than Jim Jackson or Tracy Mcgrady going down, in which case, it would be nice to have someone like Kerry Kittles ready to step in.
Also, to address your question of who steps in the very unlikely case that Howard does get injured. It would probably be whoever the Rockets find to back up Yao. Van Gundy obviously doesn't have a problem starting two centers. He did it all last season.
Well, this entire converstation is mute anyways, unless one of us CD I havent heard anything about Kettles even being on our radar, so I will end my aurgment here.
