Rockets has 0 players that can't score. In the playoffs, this is why GG and JJ will glide us to a parade. Not to mention Ryno is going to win us a game in the playoffs.
We lose this game of not for JJ. Harden couldn’t get it going in the 3rd when we needed to make our push to get back into the game which ordinarily wouldn’t have mattered as much because CP3 or Gordon could catch fire. Without those two, I feared we had nobody capable of initiating our offense. Enter Joe Johnson. We basically ran the offense through him at the end of the 3rd with James on the bench and he stepped up and responded by punking anybody that tried to guard him one on one and getting others open looks. This game is an “L” if he isn’t on the team. That man’s basketball IQ is off the charts. Sometimes I think he thinks too much and needs a little more Gerald Green in his game. Just go out there and hoop. Gerald Green doesn’t think at all, he just plays! Well he thinks about how soon he can launch his next off balance 3 pointer. He runs very hot and cold with his shot. A little too streaky if you ask me considering he doesn’t do a whole lot of anything else, but he is a gunner with no conscience that’s not afraid to take big shots in big moments and you need a guy like that on your team. Hopefully the legend of GG as a Houston icon is only just now beginning and there will be even bigger and better things in store come playoffs.
If Joe starts banging in threes and working up a sweat like he did tonight, we are in business. The best part about CP3 and James sitting, is getting Joe/Gerald lots of time to be in immaculate shape.
Rockets that I would be comfortable with taking a last second shot in the playoffs: Harden, Ariza, Paul, Green, Ryno, Gordon, JJ, Tucker, Luc, Nene, Capela, and Zhou....Ok maybe not Zhou yet.
