Sorry, codell, I feel bad for the kill because you did come up with the spelling game idea...

I feel for you, B. Aside from the few plays I've directed over the last year I've made my money (technical) writing a self-study course on governmental regulations pertaining to property management for a major developer. I know those rules (I've not yet submitted a module on hazardous waste regulations, for example, including slang like "want's"). But I'm pretty sure they're not the same rules we're meant to observe here. Yeah, I'm pretty sure about that. (Oops! Is "yeah" a kill?!)

According to the dictionary, "typo" is not a word. Is your reign of terror finally over?

    Man!

I'm almost willing to give Fatty a mulligan just because he had the balls to post something that sad and long in the midst of this contest.

and because he had to grow up in Baytown.....:p

anyway.....the tough thing about slang is that is there really a "accepted" correct spelling for a lot of the words that pass for slang these days?

and no....I don't use a spellcheck...and I don't double check my posts...the only thing special I am doing is making sure to include apostrophes in my contractions.....anyone that is observant knows that I normally leave them out for speed.

I will make an honest attempt to post(even though my posts have become more and more rare these days)more than normal to give yall(acceptable Texan slang?) a fair chance to bust me..

someone start music and computer threads and I will probably die quickly. ;)

I didn't post that for sympathy. Just put it on there for a little verification.

Good news is that I became pretty popular in college. Bad news is that my Scholastic skills still tend to haunt me. I procrastinate waaay too much.

Don't feel bad about my story. Adolesence is a b**** for the vast majority of the population. I should get no special treatment now. It's what we do now that matters.

I put blame on everything about me on myself. I congratulate everything I do well on myself also.:p

What would I be more likely to do? Give you sympathy or give you verbal jabs about it?

    :p

Remember, I'm almost as much of an ass as you are.

    :D

anyway.....Popularity is WAY over-rated....I couldn't care less about it then...and I don't particularly care about it now.

I put myself out there, and you either accept me for who I am or you don't....doesn't matter to me.

codell should have appointed a referee to serve in his absence.

Is it adolescence? I contemplated it, but figured I was accurate. I don't ever use spell check.

Tick2K: Regarding "proper" spelling of slang... Can you think of any other way someone might contract the words 'want' and 'is?' Not really open to debate. I didn't misspell anything. Much ado about nothing. Yet. As I've said before, pay attention and I surely will.

p.s. Y'all is spelled y'all. It's another slang contraction. And it's not in the dictionary either.

Sorry for just now peeking in. Didn't realize so many of us would be dropping like flies. heh

Batman - Out (mis use of punctuation in a word)

Fatty - Out (mis use of puntuation in a word)

rockets-#1 - Out (typo/mis use of word in context)

Codell - Out (due to typo) (although not because I mis-spelled Sugarland (misspelling of proper names does not count)

A few clarifications. I agree with RM95, in that if you don't get caught before you edit, then you are still in the game.

Also, re: commish. Too cheap of a kill to let stand. I consider that slang and slang words do not count.

And don't feel sorry for me. I knew I would be out early. I just type too fast.

    :)

Ok. I've thought about it, and I think Batman Jones is still in the game.

The way he used "want's" in that post, was as slang. The fact that he put an apostrophe in is irrelevant to me.

BTW, I like R2K's idea of a 2nd official in the game.

Course, it would have to be someone who isn't in the contest.

Someone who is unencumbered by any emotional attachment.

Someone whose heart is so dark, it cannot be swayed by pity, compassion, or human emotion of any kind.

Is yipengzhao in the game? If so, I think he is out now.

I think it should be aggressiveness. Batman, is this the type of kill you are looking for?

I'm taking myself out in protest. Using "want's" as a contraction of "want" and "is" goes against everything I stand for, and is right up (down?) there on a level with "could of/would of/should of."

I'm not going to get into a big argument or anything because I honestly do not care enough to do so. There is, however, a difference between slang and simply being wrong, and this crosses it. "Want's" is not a valid contraction and does break one of codell's rules. Plus, it just looks stupid. The fact that Batman's vehement attempt to hide this under the cloak of slang actually worked is pretty lame.

Anyway, good luck to those remaining. For some reason, the game wasn't as fun this time around anyway, so I don't mind pulling out too much. Thanks for all the fish.

Who spells yall with a apostrophe?

I have never seen it spelled that way.

of course....I have never seen anyone contract "want" and "is" in that context :p....not making a judgement on it's use...just saying I have never seen it done.

Is there a English teacher in the house?

An English teacher to the white courtesy phone...

damn B...you got too much time on your hands dood.....:D

I could just use typographical error until the contest is over. If "commish" is an accepted informal use of commissioner, I think "typo" should be an accepted informal use of typographical error.

If I had not spent over 200 hours playing Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, I would kill you for "dood". :D
