With Yao's feet possibly being an issue next season and Deke morphing into a foul magnet, maybe we should look to bolster our BIG scenario. Andreas Glyniadakis, for example, is a 7-1 , 280, center that has a nice J and decent footwork. He just helped his Albuquerque team win the D-league title. I know that's not saying much, but Yao is undoubtedly going to need some time off next season to rest and rehab, especially if he plays for China next month. I don't think he's ever had a summer off!! It's better to prepare now versus trying to find a center right before the playoffs like the scenario we had with Juwan a few years back. Noone is going to take us seriously in the playoffs with the frontcourt we have right now. So, if we're going to have a guy like Lampe on the squad, maybe he should be good enough to play when Yao goes out for the year.... Not to mention with us probably going small by starting Battier at the four and Hayes getting more time next season, our lack for size and depth in the frontcourt will really be exposed if we can't bolster our five spot. Everyone saw how vulnerable we were with Yao gone last season so I hope CD and JVG have learned from that and will be better prepared next time around.
If Yao goes out for the year, we won't be in the playoffs. Besides, there's nothing to suggest that Yao will have problems with his feet, the two occurancs were entirely different. One was a toe infection, and after treatment, Yao came out at playing as one of the top players in the league. The other was a small fracture in his foot that has healed perfectly by all accounts.
Face it. Our next season hinges entirely on the health of Tmac and Yao. If either one is hurt, we're flat out boned, no matter how many Andrea Gylniadsmashakashkakakkises we get.
If Yao happens to go out for the year, we will be doomed anyway. We'd better do our 'best' to maneuverer for draft position. This will be the most popular thread the day after Yao goes out for the season.
umm, i hate to bust your thread bubble, but it's highly likely that the Rox would rather just get Baxter than your Glonadskisses guy. for the most part, during the summer league Baxter has been playing Yao's role anyway, and he's already familiar with our system.
Ever since we drafted Yao, the Rockets have had a perfect opportunity to obtain a young big man to bring along behind Yao and Deke and take over for Deke next year. But, they have squandered that opportunity and show no signs of trying to correct their mistake. Even to the point that they let Lampe go back to Phoenix apparently.
i like the idea, of getting a back up center, not Andreas Glyniadakis necessarily though. let's face it, even with a healthy yao, deke is too old to be efficient consistently. and this could very well be his last season. it's about time we start to look for a solid back up center.
which would summerize deke's role on the rockets, otherwise yeah bradley and schenscher are both white
That and they share the same offensive ability, agressiveness, and lateral speed. Atleast Deke scares guards away from the basket and refuses to be some ones highlight reel
