The problem is that this was supposed to be a Game 7 like game. The Rockets were supposedly focused on winning and not worrying about who they were going to play. If Morey were truly a Wizard, he could give McGrady a heart, Ron a brain, Yao some courage, and take us all home to a Championship. But right now we can't even see the yellow brick road because of all this fronting in our way.
Yes. The 94/95 team did, from a standings point of view. 6th seed. 10 man roster. No HCA. And they got it done. NO "insight" foretold it... except for TRUE BELIEVERS! The "quitter" mentality writes this team off before round one begins. Like many of you have. THAT is NOT going to help. NOW it's game time. Get RED! Get MAD! When it all comes down to it, the road wins will be the difference in any series... so the Rockets just might as well start in round one being road warriors. This IS a positive.... With the negativity coming from Houston, and much of it from the Houston area residents on this BBS, it is BEST, perhaps, that they are facing no HCA. Clutch City was BORN out of a backs-against-the-wall scenario.... It's time to re-birth it!
I understand your point, and I'm going to be cheering, routing and praying for the Rockets to win every game and every series that they can. I will be a Rockets Fan till the very end. But RA can kiss the crack of my azz...the only way I will be a fan of his is if we win the NBA championship. I am done with him otherwise. Please tell me one game where he clearly outcoached another coach and it just wasn't our players stepping up?
for everyone inexplicably lauding that post.. this is not about one game changing everything from 81 games before.. this is about one game.. showing that a nasty little trend of their's .. is still strongly present in their character.. a trend that's years old.. i'll take a years old trend.. re-affirmed several times this season.. including the last game of this season.. as more telling of this teams ability and capacity in the playoffs.. than 81 games..
fans gettign red and mad amounts to nothing.. if the team is more interested in getting flushed with aimless panic and dreading confusion..
But that's the thing man, I've watched the team this year and we aren't the same as years past. I know we are much better than tonight indicates. Just off the top of my head, I recall us winning close nailbiters to: San Antonio, Boston, Detroit, Denver, Dallas, Portland, Utah... among others. We've also blown out: Orlando, Cleveland, New Orleans, and Portland. Bad teams don't win games like that. Judging by our record, we obviously win more 4th quarters than we lose. And it's not that I'm ignoring the flaws in our team. I see them clear as day. I've also seen us overcome them more times than not and win 53 games.
I don't get it either. Other than the fact that we probably don't get homecourt, I'm absolutely ecstatic we're playing Portland.
you're right.. our players have demonstrated nothing than the spine and intellect of well focused and discinplined warriors.. with passion afire.. all they need is for us to get behind them.. and triumph is all but assured in glittering gold..
Honestly, I doubt they are as worried about the details of the playoff scenarios as the BBS is... And why? They can play with anyone. They have a good record against every team in the West bracket this season except for the Lakers. Let me know when the overall record indicated otherwise. Thanks.
Oh, okay....well thanks for reminding me how to be a fan, after you questioned my teams heart........ The Rockets are what they are.......I'm not naive enough to believe we were a dead lock for WCF. We had about as much chance as getting out of the first round against Portland as we did against SA/Dallas/NO......HCA or not. besides, over the past 11 years......I've learned how to deal with first round exits........
I actually don't mind playing Portland, they were my 2nd choice after the Hornets. But I still feel like this team does not have even one ice-in-his-veins player who can take over in the 4th and put the game away. Both the 93-94 and 94-95 teams had them in spades. Maxwell, Cassell, Elie, Horry, Dream, Clyde, even Chucky who the hell is Chucky Brown. I mean it's really no comparison between those teams and this team. We have a good chance of beating the Blazers, simply because they are so young. But unless we get some sort of value out of Tmac's $22M deadweight.....and possibly find a new coach......I sadly don't see this team becoming a contender any time soon.
I agree with IROC but like I've said a 1,000 times this board is to vent. Yes fans here jump the board and start yelling right away " fire RA " " Its Artest fault " Trade Yao " but I'd rather come here and vent with all the Rocket fans and calm down than yell or break something over here It's a game and I have had to learn that in my 29 years as a Rockets fan. Those guys don't know us and when its all said and done they get their millions and we go to bed ! Tomorrows another day and I'll still be a Rockets fan but when they lose it will still hurt cause I Love this team...... just my two cents
1. Fans are excited thinking they will win it all 2. Big loss comes and fans need to cope 3. Some get depressed, say we will lose it all now, the team sucks. 3. This stirs the anger in other fans who unleash their anger for the loss on the fans dealing with the loss with pessimism. They then gain superiority over the pessimistic fans by remaining loyal even though it is quite obvious they are only mad because of the loss. 4. ???????????????????? 5. PROFIT!
Very good points... But the season is NOT over! That's what gets my goat! Let the playoffs begin, then gripe if needed! btw- you get rep for this post. Good thoughts!
