Exactly. I think everyone hoping for the project is on pins and needles until financing is completely secured.
How? They actually have investors in place, and are just in the process of selected one. In fact, don't require any debt service. That means they already have the cash to build the park. I say, EarthQuest developers better select a developer and build this thing. I don't think anyone thought it would be built without money from investors.
Hopefully the Rockets win a championship before this opens so then maybe we can have a Houston Rocket themed rides or area.
i hate to keep trolling this project because i'm rooting for it... but those investors aren't committed. they're ones they are talking to. that means that...after all these delays...they still don't have the money. this article says they HOPE to have it by the end of the year. shocking.
I wanna go on that roller coaster behind the volcano or whatever it is... Ever since I got back from Hershey Park I've been on a roller coaster craze.
I, don't know sh-t about sh-t really....Context fail. And sadly I've actually seen the movie before, though it was 15 years ago. Shorter than the amount of time they'll keep discussing the right-around-the-corner funds for Earth Quest. The park is a grand idea. Myself it wouldnt matter if its Martha Stewart Quest, if it has big rides, friendly and cuddly mascots, good commercial promos and some nearby good eateries, (in the absense of nothing else) I'd be tempted to give it a visit. I could imagine in my younger more awkward years, if there was a lure of cute maybe akward girls there I'd doubly check it out. Would it actually make back half a billion in soon enough time before interest dips, I can see that even if it were built it'd have a chance of failure.
Where does it say that at? Doesn't sound like investors aren't committed. Instead, they are looking for the best one, as they should because they don't want the investor to somehow go broke during construction (and have a Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach scenario).
No signed contract = no commitment worth talking about here. Finding an investor to see this project through is the same problem they've had since the beginning. Also this: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7107178.html The $500 million project was also stalled by the sluggish economy, but now organizers are hoping to have financing by year's end and construction completed by 2013. Funding isn't there, yet. Look...the next worthwhile article needs to be about groundbreaking. This article is essntially more of the same we've seen for years now. Still don't have funding..we hope to have it soon...fingers crossed...pins and needles....yada yada yada.
I'll liken this more to a college recruitment process for a star high school athlete. You're going to college, the question is where. You have a list of suitors, and are trying to pick the best one. The way the article explained it, this thing is most likely going to be built, there are just going through a couple of investors that they have. Some so confident in the theme park/resort that they don't even require debt service.
There's some development with this story...I'm really surprised this wasn't reported more locally: http://sanantonio.bizjournals.com/dallas/stories/2010/09/13/story13.html?q=earthquest adventures Friday, September 10, 2010 A Dallas-based company is among multiple groups pursuing plans for at least two separate theme parks in the Houston area, say sources familiar with the plans. One of those projects is a 1,600-acre mega resort anchored by Earthquest Adventure, a new theme park slated for an area in Montgomery County, north of Houston. Officials with the East Montgomery County Improvement District — a Houston-area economic development group — say they believe that Marlin Atlantis, of Dallas, is serious about its plans to develop a destination resort that could ultimately include an Earthquest theme park, multiple hotels and other attractions. Officials with Marlin Atlantis were unavailable for comment at press time. But EMCID President and CEO Frank McCrady confirms Marlin Atlantis’ participation in the planned development and says the Earthquest project is absolutely more when than “if.” He says crews could break ground on the project by next year. I'm driving to Louisiana tomorrow via 59 North. I'll be interested to see if that area looks any different than it did a year ago.
