I think the real question of this thread should be said " Which rockets would you trade in order that will not help us win a championship"? WHat players are so bad (contract irrelevent) that their production will not help a championship team? The spurs and lakers would NEVER play Taylor(no rebounding, bad defense) Moochie,Eddie,. Thats it. The other rockets have potential and could be used on a championship team and not be a negative. For instance they like Malic Rose more than Mo. They liked Speedy more than Moochie. But now the problem is the contracts. No team will ever take Taylor. He is scheduled to make something like 9 million per season in his last two years of his contract. No team will take Eddie or moochie. 1.taylor 2.moochie 3.eddie 4.mobley(we have alot of depth and could bring in something just as good since his value is high) 5.cato(for an upgrade) 6.jim jackson 7.adrian 8.boki 9.pike 10.steve(for brand) 11.ming(for duncan)
It's merely nonsense to rank all players for their trade priority. I admire the way StupidMoniker did to catagorise some must-trade players and some players that could be traded if we can get somebody who is better fit. "Get rid of them, please?" 1. Moochie - is he a CBA bench player? 2. Eddie Griffin - unknown potential vs self-discipline 3. John Amechi - Enough centre already! 4. Mo Taylor - He can shoot. He can score. BUT No D, No Rebound. 5. Cat - Can he pass? or better say "Would he pass?" Keep him if u can prove so. "Ok to trade, but.." 1. A. Griffin - a good defensive mind player, but it'd be better to find somebody who can shoot. 2. Jim Jackson - a guy with veretan leadership, but not a pure shooter as a SG and undersized as SF. 3. Steve Francis - Hard to say. He is so good that he may hinder the development of any star. I don't know... "Keep them some time at least" 1. Boki - If we can give EG some years to prove himself, please don't bash somebody who has only played 77min regular season. 2. Pike - he has proved himself a good shooter who can probably compliment Yao nicely. Age is the only problem. "Must-keep!" 1. Yao - I don't think we can trade him for Shaq until he can outplay Shaq. 2. Cato - the best back-up centre in the league. Strengthen the inside dominance of Rox.
Hmmmm lets see .. 1. Eddie Griffin 2. Eddie Griffin 3. Eddie Griffin 4. Eddie Griffin 5. Eddie Griffin 6. Eddie Griffin 7. Eddie Griffin 8. Eddie Griffin 9. Eddie Griffin 10. Eddie Griffin 11. Eddie Griffin 12. Eddie Griffin 13. Eddie Griffin 14. Eddie Griffin 15. Mooch
bye-bye EGGIE... $26,000 a game and he can't show up to practice? c'mon... get your priorities straight EG.
Assmuming only the first four are traded Steve Francis for Elton Brand Kelvin Cato for Eric Snow and filler (Buckner?) or Tinsley and filler Maurice Taylor for a Small Forward (Maybe one of the extras in Dallas like Walker with us throwing in picks, or Eddie Robinson and filler from Chicago) Nachbar is moved just for future picks. Some crappy undrafted free agent may be trown in for salary matching: 1 - Snow, Norris 2 - Mobley, Piatkowski 3 - Jackson, Robinson (Taylor trade pick-up), AGriffin 4 - Brand, EGriffin 5 - Yao, Amechi This team does not lose any scoring compared to what we have now (Brand will give you what you lose in Francis), and is much better defensively and in rebounding.
I'm sorry, but I still fail to see why so many people complain that Steve hasn't led us to the playoffs yet, but they want to trade him for Elton Brand. Brand was drafted ahead of Steve, and he's led his team to WORSE records than Steve did every single season. First the Bulls then the Clippers. I don't get why you would want him instead of Steve.
It has nothing to do with the playoffs or team records. I guess that is where your confusion comes from. Elton Brand is a power forward that can get you 20 and 10 (has never averaged less than 10 rebounds per game) and play solid defense. Steve is a shoot first point guard who has never broken 7 apg (6.5 since his rookie year) and plays no defense. That is why people want to trade Steve for Elton.
