The ghetto has high crime rates, I guess.

I'm not from the burbs by any means, but I was a bit nervous when every house on the block looked like a crackhouse.

Again, just made a silly joke.

I have plenty of black friends!

My mother was an RN at MD Anderson when I was a kid. I'm amazed everytime I go down there now. unbelievable change in the last fifteen years.

I've lived in Houston for 2 years now and I've never really "seen" the Medical Center.

Maybe I should go check it out.

I know you're married and it wouldn't matter anyway its no place to hangout but the best thing about the med center for guys are the nurses.

they all live by the football stadium

If you do, make a day of it and head to Hermann Park or the zoo, afterwards. Other than look at some big buildings and the "modern" look around the rail over there, you'll get bored with it in 20 minutes, tops.

they definitely need to add a little more mixed use residential/retail components in the area.

Yeah I was thinking more along the lines of a drive through the area. I know when I've had people visit me here I always think "what the hell is there to see in Houston?"

Are you kidding me? Whether through insurance, self paid, or free care, we take good medical care of over 95% of our nation as well as a good portion of the nation to the south of us.
