I saw this on the news this morning. The "healthy eating" issue aside, this is one more example of how silly the media can be, and how little attention they pay to their own stories -- at least anything beyond the headline. Why is this a news story? Because McDonalds is changing it's menu to help Houston, because we've gotten the fattest city award. What's silly about this? McDonald's menu has nothing to do with why we got the award. Why are the issues linked? Just to make another fluff news story. Men's fitness magazine used a lot of factors to determine it's award, none of which had anything to do with actually weighing people, or what menu choices McDonalds has. Unless they close McDonalds (reducing the number of eating options) and turn the property into parks (increasing the amount of recreational space) this won't do anything to help us avoid this Men's Fitness distinction.
