With last year's injury riddled season and NO's fall-off from the playoffs, I think people have forgotten how good this guy is. We are talking about the best PG in basketball and arguably one of the best PG ever. I've watched a lot of NO games in the past few years and his impact to the game is second only to Lebron. As for any potential trades, it's important to think about what NO would want in return. Ideally they would like to dump Okafor and Posey's contracts and replace them with cheap young talent at the C and SF position since their other positions are set. I would imagine that future picks are also a 'must'. HOU has enough assets but not the right kind. So, we would have to involve another team for realistic potential deals.
Thats enough hype from me. Lets just go with what we got and see what we have. I give up. Its like pulling teeth to get any talent here or even getting the fans or GMs to beconvinced to get anything. Lets see how Yao is and Brooks and go from there like always.
Chris Paul won't be as successful here in Houston & Rick Adelman's Offense. Aaron Brooks is good enough, he's just as fast-- plus he's prolly just as good a scorer than Chris Paul. What we're really missing is a "Paul Pierce" type of player, a small forward that can score and has swagger. If we can add someone like him-- then we can actually complete with the Lakers, Magics and Heat.
I don't want one of these whiny baby spoiled little 25 year olds who think the only way to win is to get all the best players on one team. As MJ said the other day in an interview, "I would have never called up Larry or Magic and said lets all play together. I am too competitive for that! I wanted to beat them not join them" Nut up Chris Paul and Shut UP!!!!!!!
cp3 wouldnt be much of an upgrade over ab for this rockets roster. he wouldnt fit us imo lets keep our eyes more on a scoring sf...
I agree with those who think our need to upgrade the 3 position is greater than our need to upgrade the 1 position. A taller, defensive PG like Temple might be nice to add to our PG corp; but I'd rather we somehow trade for Granger or Randolph. If we don't improve our 3 through trade, we'll have to hope that Yao/Miller will improve Ariza/Battier-- which is certainly possible.
Guys please stop with the bull****....saying CP3 isnt that much of a upgrade over AB. CP3 when healthy is probably the best point guard in the league not to mention he has way better defense and play making ability than AB. CP3 averages a double double when he's healthy Aaron Brooks might be lucky to get a double double 9 or 10 times a year.
What mean is that CP3 would compliment Bud's skill set better than any PG we have on the roster at the moment. Budinger has the tools to be an all star player. Obviously this is just my opinion, and you're welcome to disagree.
Rental players only make sense when you get them on the cheap. By that I mean without gutting your roster. Bonzi and Artest were rentals. CP3 is not a rental. All these pie in the sky scenarios that defy logic are not a good place to put your hopes into. I'd much rather have Morey spend his time looking to see how he can make an Iggy or Granger deal work, or some other star that we don't even know could be had. Other then that, scout out the hidden gems out there, like Lowry.
on sportscenter Chris Brussard (sp?) said that the lakers are not a possibility and that Chris pauls choices are Orlando, Knicks, Portland and Dallas
Chris Paul two years ago was the second best player in the NBA behind Lebron. His PER was over 30; and people are saying Brooks is not much worse when Brooks' highest PER was 16.0 last year when he had the ball in his hands every single play. COME ON PEOPLE. I know that stats aren't everything, but one player having a PER almost double that of another player tends to indicate that the first dude is waaaay better than the second.
This fake a** thread should be closed. No where did anybody ever say Chris Paul was a target of the Rockets. In the ariticle Houston was never mentioned as one of his choices. Once again, everytime a player's name is mentioned (and that's ANY FREAKIN PLAYER!!) as a FA, somebody has to come up with what we should do to trade for him. This is ridiculous. I'm not saying Morey probably wont make a call just to see, but some of you get out of control with this.
Ultimately its not his choice. If New Orleans gets a good deal from a team not on his list he cannot stop the trade. I saw we offer them: 2 NY firsts, Brooks, Ariza, Hill, Budinger, and 3Million in cash for Paul. It's a large haul but it basically puts us in another level, and Yao becomes more secondary as paul will take over. Martin and Battier and Scola all fit wonderfully with Paul.
Wants to play with another superstar... (from other player P.O.V)>>>yeah we have Yao but he is never on the court and he is Chinese (yeah i said it!)
