I would be very reluctant to give up Martin in a CP3 trade...who would give us the athleticism and scoring at the SG spot? Brooks, expirings, Andrsen, picks would be okay.
We dont even need to upgrade at PG. I'd rather get an Iggy or Granger instead of Paul. Brooks and Lowry are both good enough to compete with the best team in the West PG (Fisher). We need a better starting SF not PG.
That's way over-paying... but maybe. I think Martin plus Lowry (even with his bad contract) would be about right. Still, I think it's worth reaching a little. If we could save money on the deal, we should then use the MLE to go after a new starting SG.
The reason for the sign-and-trade for David Lee -- which yielded young talents Anthony Randolph and Kelenna Azubuike from Golden State -- was to stock the roster with assets that could be used to acquire such marquee players if the opportunities presented themselves.
did you just call Azubuike a young talent? LOL. He's 26. Randolph is on the last year of his contract so he's up for an extension so you won't be cheap for long. They'd have to trade half their team, really like 5 players to just match the money to take back Paul and Okafor (they will have to take Okafor). Now they're team will have CP3, Stat and Turiaf. Congrats! you are set up for a championship
I think this has hurt is trade value, if he goes public with these demand, even if it doesn't necessarily come from his mouth. LOL, if you go on the Hornets boards, his ass his hated like the second coming of LeBron. I think we have the best assets in landing a guy like CP3 and the Hornets should man up and either not trade him or trade him to a team not named the Knicks, Lakers, or Magic. BTW, my dream scenario would be this. We somehow land CP3, win the Championship next season or at least get to the Finals, the following season there's a lockout shortened season and the Owners and NBA agree on a new CBA which comes with the Owners allowing a franchise tag on their players.
This is a super long shot. Paul does not want to play for Rockets. Rockets might not be willing to sacrify much to upgrade their strongest position in PG.
This new Superfriends phenomenon in the NBA is sickening. I would root for the evil Lakers or even the Jazzholes (gasp) in a finals series against either the Heat or a Paul/Anthony/Stoudemire triumvirate. Just seeing that Paul has joined LRMR has turned me off to him. Do not want.
