If NO deals with Orlando, they'd even be in a bigger mess than they currently are. Like i said, the Magic do not have expiring contracts nor draft picks to offer. Replacing CP3 with Vince Carter and Jameer? Yuck. The only plus side we get is, NY would still suck. Keeping our draft picks attractive.

That where I would go to if I was Paul. Orlando is a great place to win. Happy medium there. Has a cast who can a Championship and has a star like Dwight who is young and nonjury prone. Knicks would be another waiste of Pauls talent. Going to play with a team less talented than us and to Amare almost as injury prone as Yao? Might as welll put us at the top of his list too because I know one thing. Paul and Amare together are not gonna be a better team than the Rockets with out either of them. So I have no idea this silly notion of Knicks and players going there. The Knicks SUCK! Its EXPENSIVE to live there. MORE than any other place. THEY HAVE a HORRIBLE TEAM!

Theres too much emphasis being put on Okafor's contract. What everyone seems to be forgetting is that he would be an excellent back-up to Scola, Paul or no Paul. He would make an already good bench great. I would prefer to just get him and not Paul since we already have Brooks. Especially since we have that Yao problem. Having another big man on the squad now would be like gold.

Knicks, Magic, Dallas, and Portland were the teams that were mentioned specifically....

His contract is an issue if it's him alone, you can't just disregard it. Since we'll be over the luxury tax, he'd end up costing us just under $23M per season. That's too much for a backup. The only way you swallow that kind of money is if Chris Paul comes with it.

I do agree that he could be a good asset in certain situations, but there certainly are matchups where he couldn't play PF. I'm thinking of guys like Dirk and Bosh.

I think outside of the financial decisions, Okafor would be a great backup. He would play the 4 and the 5. He would allow us to be able to trade Brad Miller (after the December waiting period)

Yes 23M for a backup is alot, but he could get 30 mins a night behind Scola and Yao, and its Les' Money, not my money.

It seems NO wants to get rid of Okafor's and Posey's contract. We would have to involve some other team, maybe a Toronta, to take on Posey's contract and bribe them with Brooks. NO doesn't need Brooks as they have Collison. If we can make a 3 team trade work, we have a chance.

Okafor would be a GREAT fit here. He can play behind Scola and/or Yao, and can play along side Scola and/or Yao. Also, Yao is no guarantee for the full year. If (or should I say when) Yao goes down for the year, to have a front line of Scola/Miller/Okafor/Patterson would be great.

Okafor would have been a great fit prior to the Brad Miller signing. Taking on Okafor would place so damn much $ @ the 5 spot in Houston.

Agreed, but if you have a chance to land a CP3, you roll the dice and over load on the PF/C position. Keep in mind, we can move Miller if needed after December, as his contract is well constructed.

It's just that i have a really bad feeling about Yao. First some unknown comes out with info then two days later Yao says something in some interview. Right now Okafor is looking more like a necessity. I have to apologize. I tend not to look at price so much as the reward. Let's just eliminate that same tired old Yao question now. Brad Miller is a part of that puzzle. He shouldn't be traded.

The Magic have about $19MM in expiring contracts between Vince and Ryan Anderson. A trade of Nelson, Carter, Anderson and Orton plus Orlando's 2011 and 2012 first round picks for Paul, Posey, and Okefor is something the Hornets would probably take a look at. They unload $32MM in contracts and only end up having to pay Nelson and Orton $9MM the next year. There is also Pietrus, Gortat, and Bass to take in or out of the deal if the Hornets are looking for some decent complimentary players.

How about doing a 3 way with New Orleans and New York and receiving Okafor. He would help our defense, he is young, and more insurance for Yao.

    Houston Trades:
    Jared Jeffries
    Jordan Hill
    Chuck Hayes

    Houston Receives:
    Emeka Okafor

    New Orleans Trades:
    Chris Paul
    Emeka Okafor

    New Orleans Receives:
    Jared Jeffries
    Jordan Hill
    Eddy Curry
    Wilson Chandler
    Toney Douglas

    New York Trades:
    Eddy Curry
    Wilson Chandler
    Toney Douglas

    New York Receives:
    Chris Paul
    Chuck Hayes

Our lineup after the trade would be:

    Yao/Miller/Andersen
    Scola/Okafor/Patterson
    Ariza/Battier
    Martin/Buddinger/Taylor
    Brooks/Lowry

Forget about the so called 'desired destinations' of Chris Paul. He is not a free agent. It's the Hornets' call not his. We all know that by far, Houston and Daryl Morey will have the best offer on the table. Now it's all up to New Orleans execs if they want to cash in and do what's best for it's franchise.
