I don't know if CP fits this team...he seems to prefer passing the ball a lot. And I don't know if Mello fit this team either because you're going to have no one playing perimeter defense out there w/ Brooks Martin and Mello. Mello is weak on defense. Sure he add firepower but he play no D. Ariza and Battier play D.
This is worse on the punk meter. Can't we just put AB on HGH? <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9F3tptzEWmM&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9F3tptzEWmM&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Our roster is deep enough to acquire a star or two. Landing CP3 would give us a shot at landing another star. Maybe Melo. Point is, how often do you get a chance to acquire the best PG in the league? You guys who are skeptical with this possible trade would be the same people who'd be demanding a trade and become desperate once you realize our team is good but not good enough. Story of our Rockets lives for the past 15 years. We need a Star, a leader, a playmaker and good Gawd here's the best point guard in the NBA available and you say, No? Sigh.
Get rid of Yaoch who has the organization under a choke hold and those players will fit in well. Seriously though, what have we got to lose? We haven't won ***** for the past 15 years. Their the best players in the league right now so we'd be extremely fortunate to even have a shot at acquiring em.
So for some reason if he doesn't choose to resign that means we can't trade him or get some assets in return for a Chris Paul? You do realize that Yao is an injury or a bad season away from not getting an extension right? So without Yao or any of these stars on our team, we'd be back to a 'Good, gutsy, blue-collared' players with no stars who will never win a championship. I hate to keep saying this but i believe we all are well versed in basketball and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that there's a 3-headed monster in south beach which would be favorites in the next several years. The only way we could slay em is by getting stars of our own and starting with the best point guard in the league won't be a bad thing. In fact, it would be almost wishful thinking to be able to get CP3.
I don't understand because everyone is saying how he won't fit but that makes no since. He was the starting point guard of the dream team!! If ur saying it would have to revolve around him u are terrible wrong. He is a superstar and if he can change his game around all the best I believe he could do it to a team like us. It's doing watever it takes to win. The Celtic did this and won a championship. But any way we need a passer for Yao which we don't have since rafer. So Paul has that and the scoring of ab so how does he not fit?
Paul would be an upgrade, but ONLY if he really wants to be here, which doesn't seem to be the case. I'm really getting tired of these "superstars" who just want to play with their buddies. What ever happened to taking on the challenge of leading a team to a championship? At this point, I think I'd rather have Iguodala...
When was the last time a team didn't conform to a superstar's list of teams he wished to be traded to? Unless Chris Paul has a huge revelation and adds Houston to his list, the chance of Houston landing CP3 would be excruciatingly slim. However, that doesn't mean that Houston couldn't benefit from a team chasing Paul. The Rockets could help facilitate a trade with their abundance of picks and expiring contracts to one of the teams. With the Knicks, they could send them back their picks, which NY would then send the picks to NOH, for a prospect or solid contributor such as Anthony Randolph or Wilson Chandler. Houston could also send an expiring such as Jeffries and sweeteners for Gortat, if New Orleans is looking for cap relief. Portland also drafted Elliot Williams, which the Rockets supposedly coveted, and could possibly send him to Houston for sweeteners for a CP3 deal.
Be honest DD, you don't want him because he would replace Aaron. Whatever reason you can come up with to prevent Aaron being gone is good enough for you. "HE doesn't want to play here! He's a punk! He's a ballhog! He's too good!" Anything to keep your precious...
i'd take paul in a heartbeat, and there isn't a player on the rockets roster that, individually, i wouldn't give up to get him in rocket red.
I think it went out a long time ago. I mean, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem, Russell, Jordan...none of those guys wanted to lead a team to a championship without superstars around them.
Quit overrating the so called 'wish list', he is NOT a free agent! If he wants to get traded, the team with the best assets to offer would be a frontrunner since he is under contract with the Hornets. So with a GM in Daryl Morey, an abundance of trade chips, and a solid roster in Houston that CP3 would be playing for, go figure.
I want Paul as long as we don't have to give up any of our budding superstars like Budinger and Brooks!!!!!! (Pretend I repeated this post 1000 times)
There's a video posted of Paul punching another player in the crotch. He's earned his punk reputation. He is a punk, not an alleged punk. That said - he's a great player. I don't believe he's the only player that would lead the Rockets to a championship path. So, my preference is other options.
