I am not saying anyone is as good as Paul, I am taking into account that he doesn't want to be here.

And, I am skewed on Paul, I think he is a pint sized punk......don't like him, don't want him on this team...

    ESPECIALLY, as a rental....

If he came out and said...."I want to be in Houston" then I would change my mind...but he hasn't and apparently doesn't....

So it is just a bunch of circle jerking about another player that has no desire to come to Houston.

    Screw that....

Give me a guy that wants to come to Houston and LEAD the franchise, not someone who is picking up a check and can't wait to leave.

    Pass....and pass again !

I hate to say this, but for once I agree with one of DaDa's points that he posts 1000 times to make and reiterate.

I love Chris Paul the player and would absolutely want him on this team over Aaron Brooks. BUT, if he is already making eyes at playing in New York or another team once his deal is up, I do not want to trade for him. The only way I make a deal for Paul is if he wants to be here and indicates he will sign an extension. If they trade for him and then he walks to go play with Amare you gave up assets for nothing.

To be fair, Brooks isn't exactly big on passing either...

You are making assumptions we don't know about yet. And you are moving from "he doesn't fit Adelman's offense" to "he don't want to come here" argument.

Chris Paul wants to win. If he is traded here and wins, he will be plenty happy. Yeah, he's part punk. But he's also ultra competitive. Hakeem was a punk too. Always griping about his contract and about his teammates not getting him the basketball. C-H-A-M-P-I-O-N-S-H-I-P is the antidote to "punk".

    Exactly this.

Don't waste time and money on someone who does not want to play for Houston.

Chris Broussard says that he's been told that CP3 wants to go to New York, Orlando, Portland or Dallas. Just saw on the four letter network.

Damn you beat me to it. Yeah how could he mention Dallas and Portland and not mention Houston. You know what if he doesn't want to come play here let him go elsewhere, we don't need him  .

I'd still take that chance. He's a top 5 player. If we can team him up with Yao with a few pieces still left, we would have to pull the trigger. Of course I'm agreeing that since he has not mentioned us as a team of interest, it won't happen anyways, I'm merely stating that if he broadens his range, we should definitely try to get in on the action.

Winning cures everything. If, in some crazyass way, Morey trades for Paul and the team manages to get to the WCF or even the Finals, I'm sure Paul would have to rethink his position on wanting to go to New York or any other team.

He's just pissed that, while his buddies are rubbing each other in Miami, he's stuck in Nawlins with a non-contending team.

True...I am making assumptions, as is this thread...all about assumptions.

    1. He does not fit Adelman's offense.

    2. And he doesn't want to come here - at least as far as we know.

Either way, you guys go ahead, nothing wrong with wishful thinking.

Don't see how you could pass on this guy. What better upgrade is out there?

New Orleans trading CP3 in their own division doesnt even make sense. Thats like the Astros trading Oswalt to the Cardinals...its just plain stupid. We are set at the PG position we need to upgrade at SF.

We are already very good at PG with Brooks and Lowry, if you bring in CP3, you basically replace both of them because he plays 40mpg.

IMO, we have other areas of need.....

And I would target Melo if he would sign an extension....

Technically we have the assets to get Paul and Okafor. Okafor is a local kid who would love to come back home.

It would be Paul and Okafor for Ariza, Jeffries, Brooks, Hill, Andersen, picks and cash.

It would clear 62 million in future salary from the Hornets payroll.

Okafor would give us the best backup bigman in the league and he could backup both Yao and Scola, and we could move Brad Miller at the trade deadline.

This Obviously has a tiny chance of happening, but I would like our chances with that roster.

I agree we are ok at the PG position, but if the chance for a major upgrade comes around you take it. We are set at the SG position but if Wade wanted to be here you can be sure Martin would be out with the old trash.

Well Adelman actually likes to play both Brooks and Lowry at the same time. Im sure you would see a lot of Paul and Lowry on the court at the 1 and 2. But you are right I would still targer Iggy, Granger or Melo.

CP3 is not an off the ball player.

Brooks is a more versatile player in regards to that.

Why have Chris Paul when you have Aaron Brooks?

Why have Trevor Ariza when you have Jesus Shuttleworth/Kobe Bryant?

Why have Kyle Lowry when you can have Billy Spanoulis

Why have Luis Scola when you can have Dan Langhi

Why have Kevin Martin when you can have Vakeaton Wafer?

    :p

If you can get him, great. If not, not the end of the world either.

    1. If Adelman can't fit a top 5 player in the league into his offense, then he is the one that has to go.

    2. We don't know that. Let's say it's true, if Morey believes we have a legit shot at a championship this year with Paul, then he should pull the trigger. Because contending is all it will take to change Paul's mind.
