Thank you 2016Champions for your great post!

I went over the numbers and as of now, we can offer Dwight close to the max with a few more moves under our control...

These players have non-guaranteed contracts for this year. Look for them to be waived in the event Dwight commits.

    Anderson 916,099 (Oct.31)
    Ohlbrecht 788,872 (no date)
    G.Smith 884,293 (no date)

Waive and Stretch Royce White 1,719,480/3 = 573,160

    CAP ROOM

    01) Harden 13,755,089 (adjusted for 58.5m cap)
    02) Asik 8,374,646
    03) Lin 8,374,646
    04) Howard 20,513,178
    05) Montiejunas 1,422,720
    06) Jones 1,551,840
    07) Parsons 926,500
    08) Beverley 788,872
    09) Canaan 490,180
    10) Cap Hold 490,180
    11) Cap Hold 490,180
    12) Cap Hold 490,180
    13) Cap Hold 490,180
    *White 573,160
    *Honeycut 100,000

    Total = 58,831,551

Short $331,551 of offering Dwight the max based on projected cap of $58.5m

    notes:
Instead of waiving G.Smith and Anderson who are pretty reasonably priced, Houston could move a larger pieces like Asik, Lin or PFs for no salary back.

Trading White and cash for no salary back would save an extra $573,160.

Salary cap could come in $331,551 higher on July 10th, no need to clear cap room before then.

Maybe Bima will answer this in his post, but if Asik or Lin get traded, how much is the cap hit for the acquiring team? Is it 8 mil like for the Rockets, $5 and $15 for the next two years, or $10 (the average of $5 and $15)?

Not Bima but I think it's been stated a few times around here that the cap hit is the same for the receiving team at $8.3 Mil. Actual paid salary is the 5/5/14

Been over this many times on this forum.

Teams Lin and Asik are traded to will have an 8.3 cap hit over the next two years but will have to actually pay money into their bank accounts of $5m and $15m.

They will become less attractive trade pieces next season because of this. Now or never I reckon. Last chance for the ABJs.

Does anyone know where Bima will post his cap analysis?

Will it be in this thread or as a separate article?

If the Rockets end up being 300K or so shy of offering Dwight the max, and 550K or so of Royce's salary(if waived and stretched) was on the books, IMO I would have been pushing for weeks to line up a situation with a team where the Rockets trade Royce to a team with whatever cash allowance they have left to use (I think they still have 2 million or so if I can recall) and if needed a 2nd round pick.

In this situation that team would be rewarded with a 2nd round pick for simply allowing the Rockets the ability to use just 1.7 mil of their cap space this year. That team could then waive Royce White just hours after the paperwork is finished. That's a deal that sounds WAYY more Morey-like.

As of right now, hasn't the 2.1m in cash allowance expired? We now have 3.2m renewed for this year's cash allowance.

Teams need the cap room to absorb White's contract. Many teams disn't have the cap room until after July 1st and into free agency when contracts come off the books. If White is to be traded with cash, look for it to be executed from now.
