Really? It wasn't the half-court offense that won those championships, it was the defense If half-court play-calling offense wins 'ships, then why the hell haven't we been to the 2nd round in 4 tries? Its just like what Adelman said, in the playoffs the enemy has all the time to study your every move, and if you just stick with calling plays then the they are gonna be able to predict what you're gonna do.
I think you're lacking one thing-most of the Kings players in those days were really good shooters and none of them except for Bibby ever really held the ball a lot. Vlade and Webber had really high Bball Iq, and both of them were really adept passers so the ball moved really well between Vlade, Webber, Christie, Bibby and of course prime Peja. The only players I can see who are capable of playing Adelmanball at such a high level are Battier, Barry and maybe Scola. As had been established before, Yao Ming and Ron Artest are not suited for RA-ball at all-Artest seems to be missing a tool or two in his shed and Yao is just too clumsy to ever be a good passer and catcher. Still, I'm really hopeful because our talent and chemistry really blows those Sac teams out of the water. Ron Artest when 100% mentally and physically and Yao Ming are both legit franchise players, and our bench is still one of the deepest in the league. Hopefully chemistry and talent makes up for the system suitability we gap we have
I think personally that Ra is just down on sloooowwwww half court bassetball with a PG who cannot score at the rim (think skippy peanut butter thick and sticky and slowwwwwwwww).
So this is what RA (Rick) has wanted all along. Tmac and Alston - medium speed dribblers - were holding the team back and staunching the flow.
Berea came off the bench and scored a lot of those points against the Rockets' second unit (i.e., not Brooks).
so, then the Kings' success was a product of Adelman's system and players that were capable of running it. i think Brooks could eventually run Adelman's system. Artest is the biggest question mark, but Yao isn't a bad passer at all. he is turnover prone, but that's usually when he dribbles the ball against double teams. he's not quite Vlade, but all those football and tennis ball catches with Thibodeau had to do something for him. i think his biggest problem is that he either hesitates or rushes his decisions. he needs to develop a better rhythm for his decisions. or in other words, he needs to think less and be more instinctive but deliberate with his actions.
Hate to bump, but man, what a game...I was at Frankies, a sports bar in Dallas and only a hand full of rocket fans where there...I was concerned in the beginning but am so glad our guys stepped up...typical dallas douches talking smack until they got their asses beat and then nothing...priceless..
