For the 100th time, I was NOT avoiding anything. I simply missed it. Given the amount of PC nonsense I've been fielding from you, go figure me missing a point. I haven't backed off anything I've said in here, quite the contrary. Everything since my original statements were in SUPPORT of them. You apologized because you needed to. You made a mistake, not because you had the character to do so on your own. You did it to save face with the herd.

As you've plainly missed simple text from me (which I didn't think was an intentional avoidance), why is it not possible for someone else to miss yours? Once again, you show what you're all about. You're trying to work from an angle of superiority and falling flat on your face.

Go look for someone else to say what you can't say for yourself and I'll be waiting for the cut and paste.

You guys are great......pure entertainment. :D Now back on the topic ladies.

This is what gets me, fans like Philly's can boo their team and they're still looked at as great. We get upset over bs that happens with our players and we're fairweather?

I know we're talking about H-Town, but put it in my perspective. Interest will go up and down, but thats the nature of the beast. The fans are still there though.

Also the fact that this board exists and its strength, tells me there are great fans here. I need to look into it, but I doubt there are many, if any, other teams with a BBS as good as this. Again, that is my opinion and I will check.

On another related note, the fact that there even are Texans fans tells me that we're not too bad. You know how frustrating it is following this team? When Sage won one for the Colts, I was ready to throw my damn Texans cap out of the car we were driving in (listening to it on Sirius). The next game though I was there.

When the Stros are stinking it up and not getting it done, I'll still follow them hoping they make another impossible second half push. Somehow I go into the season thinking that can at least make it interesting.

Seeing T-Mac dog it on the court and get out of a guy's way as he lays it up alone on a fastbreak makes me say I'm finally done with that guy. If he turned around and gave his all, I would be one of his biggest supporters.

    That is a fan.

They are our team because they play for us and our city. We buy tickets to watch them, buy their merchandise to support them and get into debates in other towns to represent them, even through the crap times. Walking around another city with a Texans cap or Rockets jersey so people know they are supported.

In return they give us bragging rights when successful. A bond of disappointment between each other when they're not. That makes the success all the more sweeter.

So long as they represent my people, I'll represent them.

That's all you've done this entire conversation; it's so ironic that you accuse me of it. It really does take one to know one, doesn't it. Here are the examples:
    * If you were true Houston football fans, you'd be Titans fans imo. (Republic is a better fan)
    * Houston fans are fairweather and victims. (Republic is not)
    * You people need a herd because you're weak. I don't! (Republic is stronger)
    * "Fan-when-I-feel-like-it Max" (Republic is a better fan than Max)

I could keep listing them. Enjoy the superiority complex, and enjoy crowing and pointing fingers at someone else the entire time!

"It really does take one to know one, doesn't it."

Not for nothing, but I detect an admission.

"* If you were true Houston football fans, you'd be Titans fans imo. (Republic is a better fan)"

The accurate statement would be "Republic is a loyal fan". If you think that's better, that's fine by me. I agree with you on this point.

"* Houston fans are fairweather and victims. (Republic is not)"

As explained by my experiences, observations, and already described at length in other posts here, this is an accurate statement. I agree with you. I am neither a fairweather nor do I maintain victim mentality with any of my sports teams, players, etc.

"* You people need a herd because you're weak. I don't! (Republic is stronger)"

Correct, but more specifically, you are the weak one. Anyone who cuts and pastes the words of others to make their own points is pretty, well, pathetic. Once again, I agree with you here.

"* "Fan-when-I-feel-like-it Max" (Republic is a better fan than Max)"

Once again, a loyal fan, not a better one. If you can lose interest in a sport because a team leaves town, you're not as loyal of a fan as one who continues interest. With this distinction being made, I once again agree with you.

Congratulations. I agree with almost everything you said and here I was thinking a guy like you couldn't offer anything of value. You even did it without posting someone else's words. Good job!

Is it possible to have interest in a sport without claiming a team?

IMO, yes. I was interested in the NFL the entire time Houston had no franchise. I don't equate that with noble values like "loyalty", however. It's a *game*, for goodness sake. In the grand scheme of things, it matters not at all.

This is some pretty weak bullcrap right here. Soooo, as a "loyal fan", what is the alternative? What is it, Republic? Disloyal? Fairweather? Bandwagon? Victim? You tell me, Republic.

"I'm not better, I'm 'loyal'. If you think that is better, that's fine by me." If you think you're "loyal" and others are not, don't you see the air of superiority in that--or at least don't see how others could easily interpret it that way?

No need to respond to the rest of your post. Your airs of superiority are pretty apparent to even the casual reader. Well done.

Yeah I'm with you on that, but I didn't claim anyone. I had no team, but there were good games and teams. There were a couple I liked watching, but felt no "loyalty" until the Texans came.

Man....some of this is just ludicrous. Respect is earned. Loyalty is earned. Bud Adams disrespected my city and therefore disrespected me. He showed all of us exactly where his loyalties were: with him and him alone. So yeah: don't let the door hit you on the way out, Bud. Screw you and your team. Respect and loyalty go both ways, and both can be lost by any and all parties involved.

And if you cannot see the problem in blanket statements about an entire culture or group (in this case: the people of Houston and its fans), even when you flower it up with inane twaddle like "my observation is...." and "my experiences are...." then I don't know what to tell you. You could just as easily say "black people are all thugs" or "all the white people I know are racists" and because they are your experiences, it may not make you wrong, but it does make you an *******, and people are going to get righteously pissed off at you for saying such things.

Get off your friggin' high horse.

People I don't care to associate with anyway. It's no loss here ;) I'm from Houston Texas. If something I say convicts you, that isn't my problem, nor do I care if you don't feel "happy" with it. I don't drink Kool-Aid and my heart doesn't bleed. So be it.

Yeah um, guy (I assume)? How many posts have I made explaining it by now? FAIRWEATHER is the term.

I don't generally consider myself superior to people. You are one of the few exceptions. You want people to think more of you? Don't open by calling them r****ded. Get some social skills. You don't abuse someone and turn around and get mad at them for defending themselves against the abuse. Your opening statements elevated almost everyone on this board (even the dumb folk) above you.

This is where I cue you up to cut and paste your next insult. I know it's coming, you can't possibly let this die like it has needed to for 3 pages. /sigh

So you don't care, you don't care and you do....wait, weren't you the one complaining about the arrogance of others?

I didn't mean everyone. What the hell? Why don't I just put on a dress and start serving you ladies some kool-aid? How sensitive can you guys honestly be? LOL The hell are you? European?

I was talking about my parasite. Perhaps he finally disengaged off the stronger host? Probably not. The kid was probably in bed by 9pm.

So, you're loyal, and Houston is "fairweather". Do you really expect any of us to swallow that you're not saying you're better? Come on, man.

Oh, but you do. You've proven it out over and over. Unless "loyal" isn't better than "fairweater", or "victim", or "bandwagon", or any of the other broad brushes you've used to paint this city.

Pathetic. Your opening statement angered me and quite a few others. It took you seven pages to admit it. So, you don't abuse someone and then get mad when they strike back. Furthermore, don't pretend that "in my opinion" makes it any better.

*My* next insult? Hypocrisy at its finest. And yeah, I keep replying to this thread because you keep showing your colors. It's pretty entertaining, really.

Aren't you supposed to be a Kansas City Chiefs Fan then?

    anyway.

    Astros-number 1.

    Rockets number 1a.

Texans-unless they are playing the Chiefs.

That was before my time Cochise. If you had bothered to read what I've said in here, you'd already know why the Cowboys are my team.
