RM95 ... I totally agree with you that someone is just a moron if they don't care about going through red-lights and I don't see how it is an invasion of privacy if you get photographed breaking the law. The main problem I have is that, at least where I live, the ticket is $350 that they send you in the mail. I would never intentially go through a red light regardless of if a camera is there or not, but the problem is that occasionally you do make a mistake thinking you are going to make it through on Yellow and the tail end of your car is still in the intersection when it turns red. I am sure that has happened to most people driving at one point or another. And yes the camera will still photograph you if you are in the intersection at all. My problem is that they are not using this as a deterrent to running red lights, they are using it as a money making scheme. I think it would be a more appropriate "deterrent" with a small fine where people that continually offend would face more sever penalties. But I guess the cities have got to get their money somewhere.
I'm with you. Back in November a guy ran a red light and t-boned me at about 40 mph. His bumper stopped about 6 inches from my head. He ran my car up over the sidewalk and into a bulding. Totaled my car--$15,000 damage. The guy said he was sneezing. Considering he went through the light 4 seconds after it turned red, it must have been a helluva sneeze. I don't like traffic cameras more than anyone else, but I'm all for busting red light runnners.
so is the actual law that your whole car has to not be in the intersection when it turns red? because my whole MO is just to make sure th front of my car is in the intersection when it turns red and then i consider that "making it." perhaps i will argue definitions of with the cop when he pulls me over but since i haven't been yet i've got to think they agree. but that's as close to running a red as i come. i don't come flying through a second or two after it's turned. unless it's a left turn where you're only going about 10 mph and you're really pissed off at all the people in front of you who tried to make you miss it by being idiots and not going when they should've, but you're not gonna let them ruin your schedule, hell no, **** those people, this red light is mine and i'm going through and holding up the people coming the other way no matter what!!! uhhh...how bout them stros
