His long arms and athleticism reminds me of a young Timmy D ! I mean, his shooting leaves much to be desired at this point, but if he developed into a consistent mid range shooter (forget the 3s) he should have a successful career playing the 4 or the 5. I wasn't a huge fan seeing D-Mo in the Sac game because he was punished by Thompson ALL night long, even Aldrich looked like he could have taken D-Mo down low. I really like his game, but he really does lose out a lot physically. It's such a shame he's such a skinny 7 footer. Imagine a resurrection of the twin towers (minus a lot of offense), with Asik and D-Mo at the 5-4. Man.
Concur - I actually thought T-jones was Greg smith when he first scored. Happy to see him finally get some playing time. He didn't look nervous either
Which is more ridiculous hailing Tim Duncan's athleticism or comparing Jones to Duncan. People have him playing the 3. Others have him playing the 5. This thread is great.
Im usually against any knee jerk, but T-Jones might be our best option at PF. He's more seasoned than TRob and simply better than DMo. You can tell he's been playing basketball all year because he's more fluid than any of those guys. Once he starts hitting his jumpshots his first step is quick enough to get in the paint and posterize anybody. The boy can play
I also didn't notice when he came in, but when he made that first basket I said TJ? definitely not Thomas Robinson. T-Rob would have hit the back of the board with that kind of shot attempt.
This is the first time I've ever seen Terrance Jones play. He definitely has some hops. That explosive across the body "almost dunk" was pretty amazing. I was shocked at his stat line. Maybe I wasn't paying that close attention, but 12 boards in 29 min, with 8 offensive. Wow! I didn't recall seeing him dominate the boards like that. TRob has some serious competition.
Lol Terrance Jones is not Jeremy Lin lol just kidding. Jones has the athleticism and skills offensively and defensively to battle against anyone and any team. He's more ready now than Robinson and Motiejunas.
Jones checks more boxes than Motiejunas or Robinson, provided he's mature and doesn't cause any problems. He's got the tools to be a solid defender as long as he stays aware. While Motie may have slightly more potential offensively, and Robinson defensively, Jones is the best mix of the two. And most importantly, he is a great finisher. Inside, Motiejunas has the height, footwork and touch, but lacks the strength and physicality. Robinson has the strength and athleticism, but lacks the footwork and offensive polish. Jones has aspects of both players' strengths, making him a great finisher - both off the catch or the dribble.
Been on the T Jones bandwagon even before this game. This guy deserves to be starting. He was a beast in the pre-season. IIRC he had some nice blocks too.
He looks 10 times more confident out there after his dominant D League stint - that was a great move - I agree he has potential to be the starting 4 on this team moving forward
I dont know if this can be considered knee jerk. He has performed well in all his appearances and dominated in the d league. It is reasonable to say currently he is our best pf.
bet he doesn't if you look at last night game, he was more conservative than he usually is. He passed the ball right back to Harden or Parsons. He likes to make his own moves but he stayed away from it in his first game, which is smart. Guy can seriously play, I haven't been so sure into ones game as is his. If he plays like he has been in the DLeague and the few minutes he played during regular season, he'll be an AllStar, mark my words.
It's funny I think the same about your reaction. Only you can take out the kneeeeeee. I started this thread right after TJones jumped in front of Cousins, got an offensive rebound and then popped back up and slammed it down before Cousins could react. That single play had me jump out of my seat and start this thread. But it wasn't based on that single play it was based on everything before that. I watched every minute he played in sumer league. I watched alot of his minutes in preseason. And I watched almost all of his minutes in regular season and this over Jodie Meeks... <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/sIkxG39xz0g?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> He is not a surprise. Yes he clearly was missing some defensive assignments and didn't pick some things as quickly as he should have but what he does on the boards is not matched. Time will tell but I think he is the best rebounder amongst all of our PF options. Maybe not better than Greg Smith but at least a better offensive rebounder and so far he doesn't appear to make as many stupid fouls as Smith. Plus he appears to have better lateral movement. Which should translate in to better defense. Yes Trob is more explosive but he does not appear to have any shot outside of 3 feet and height seems to bother him. Not as much for TJones. Plus did you watch those 2 slam attempts where TJones came across the lane and popped up over the crowd. Yeah he missed but that was pretty close explosive wise. And that offensive rebound when he jumped in of Cousins and exploded for the dunk was a thing of beauty. And DMo is really a disappointment. I am a big DMo fan. I see so many skills this id has that make me think e could be a star but he makes too many mistakes, and can't rebound or play D very well. I wanted him to win the spot because I thought he would nly get better. But he hasn't and it is too close to the playoffs to go with him as our PF. As for Delfino he is not a PF and will be exposed quickly in the playoffs. So this isn't knee jerk. This is based on the fact that we do not have a clear choice at PF. Unfortunately no one has proven they are overall better than anyone else. They all have flaws and they all hurt the team to the point that are not dependable. And this isn't preseason or even the beginning of the season. We are in a playoff run. And Dmo can't defend. Trob can't shoot. Smith shoots even worse outside of 3 ft and really makes it easier to guard others because of his one dimensional play. Delfino is not a PF and gets exposed at times. TJones appears to be the all around best choice at PF and IMO deserves a run. And this is coming from a guy who knew very little about him before we drafted him. I would have taken TRob over him. Yes he might flop but he looks like the best rebounder of the bunch, has a mid range shot and he is shooting 1000% from the free throw line, okay he will probably drop down to 70-75 but that is a big improvement or everyone else unless you count Delfino. So to me nothing knee jerk about I thought this for a long while. I thought TJones deserved an opportunity and when Morris and PPat where traded I thought it was stupid not to play TJones (not stupid if he was injured. Was he/)... And when they were bringing up Olbrecht instead of TJones I thought that was stupid. The guy deserved a look. And he finally got one and it only took a few minutes of watching to validate what I already thought, right now he is the most complete PF we have. Next season that may change. DMo may bulkup, Trob might develop a jumper, Delfino might grow... who knows. But for know my pick for PF is Terrence Jones.
