Post of the night, imo. Jeeber probably waited 10 years for this and he's stuck unable to watch it or even post about it. Oh well, at least there's open bar right?
honestly, I find this kind of funny. I expected them to lose at some point this season, just not so soon. It will be real fun to see how quickly people stop caring about the coogs. All i know is that I will still be here after the bandwagoners are gone. I was here before 3-0, #12, and Heisman aspirations, and I will be here long after. Go Coogs!
I would have liked to have seen what kind of crowd we could have drawn for SMU @ home after this 3 game roadtrip. It would be a real indicator of fan interest for the future. Bye bye bandwagoners, hello 19K.
Well, it's actually been 12 years since we beat a ranked team (BYU in '97)...but it was completely worthwhile....
Yup. Same here. I said in another thread that I we still hadn't seen whether or not UH was legit or this year's East Carolina. While they can still easily prove to be something (Stanford beating USC, Iowa beating Penn State, etc.), this complete inability to stop the run is a real, real kick in the teeth. Keenum won't win the Heisman... but then he wouldn't have even if UH had gone 12-0. The Heisman voters already decided that it's either going to Tebow or Colt -- probably Tebow after his injury. Keenum put up fantastic stats -- 536 yds and 5 TDs. UH fans all know he's still got it. Personally, though, I like the bandwagoners. I love seeing Cougar fans, even brand new ones, creep out of the woodwork. This city was, briefly, in love with University of Houston. Longhorns fans are snooty, arrogant tea-sips. Aggies belong to some creepy, hillbilly cult. Red Raiders are (very often) classless. Just as bad as Texas fans but more crass than arrogant. Sooners are too dumb to know better. It was nice seeing the little guy get some attention. =) Coogs, this was great. I said before this season started that the absolute best goal I could ever want for this year was to get ranked. They did it. The team WILL be better next year -- almost everyone should be coming back. This team isn't just one-and-done.
Well, hope you guys enjoyed it while it lasted. I didn't think yall would have an undefeated season, but I honestly didn't see Ufreakingtep beating you. Hope TCU can maintain their focus.
whats big is that there are only 2 offensive starters that are seniors, so we will be in very good shape on that side of the ball next year. However, as is always the case (and very obvious tonight), we really need defensive playmakers. thats the main thing I was interested in from the offseason, and its still nothing special. McGraw is our best D player, but he's hardly a bigtime stopper. He doesnt have that many TFL. Thats where i've been looking for Sumlin to step it up... Does anyone realize that Mannisto was a 4 star recruit for us?
This defense is just flat out bad. The defensive is undersized at every position. There linebackers are the smaller than some safeties. The line gets no pass rush and was dominated for the second straight week. Other than McGraw and Hunter, everybody else on the defense is not any good. The good news is that there a lot of good defensive recruits coming in next year. They also got a kicker coming in and you they need that badly. Hopefully they win out but I doubt they will. Mississippi State, Tulsa, and UCF could all be losses.
Just got home and saw the score. Wow I did not expect this at all. What happend? I missed the game I need to catch up...last week was so emotional so amazing and now this? I got alot of my rep from the Houston Cougars discussions. So I am not just a bandwagoner. I still love my school and hopefully we can still keep building form this. Next two or three years are going to be very interesting.
Sick to my stomach BCS Dreams are shot down by freaking UTEP????? Man I would have rather just lost to either Tech or OSU if we had to lose one. Atleast those are legit teams. Hello Arm Forces Bowl vs Colorado State for 700k Im still sticking by my Coogs. Oh and James Cleveland looks like he may have a future on Sundays.
I was afraid of this game... Not UTEP but the fact that once you get ranked that high, every team you play guns for you. You're the championship game that they never play in. John Wooden used to say that getting on top was not nearly as tough as staying there.
UH also has senior kicker Ben Bell on the roster. The recruit coming in will be a punter to replace senior Chase Turner. I doubt he will kick.
Mostly venting at Texas and Tech fans. Aggie fans, though sometimes creepy, have pretty much all been really classy people. And ou just sucks. I still want them to beat Texas though. UH, to me, just seems kind of like a normal school. It was nice seeing the city root for normalcy for a chance.
ESPN's updated Heisman watch: 3. Case Keenum, QB, Houston The good news: Case Keenum continued to put up stellar numbers in Week 5. The Houston QB finished with five touchdowns and 536 yards on 51-of-76 passing. The bad news: You don't win the Heisman if your team isn't in contention, and after losing to UTEP, the Cougars' BCS dreams are done. So there you have it folks, the Heisman aka the QB on the highest ranked team award. Just as I felt bad that Colt McCoy lost it last year because of Blake Gideon's dropped interception (still feels weird to even say that), it sucks butt to know that Keenum won't get his run because of something that has absolutely nothing to do with him or his performance on the field. It is so easy to hate college football sometimes.
