[Houston to Tokyo] $455, roundtrip, including taxes

    would love to go, except I don't know anyone there and I hear the city is super expensive for lodging or anything really. Would only make sense if you know someone living there who can host you and show you around.

    Booked a flight on 4/13 and staying for a month if any clutchfans want to meet in Tokyo. I'll most likely be staying with my sis and her husband at their townhouse on a Navy base.

    I'd be all over this deal, but I just returned from a two-week trip to Tokyo/Japan last week.

    Contrary to popular belief, Tokyo is not that expensive. For those that have been to London, it wasn't nearly as expensive as that. Back in the 90s, Tokyo was extremely pricey, but not so much anymore. I mean it certainly isn't cheap, but it's no more expensive than NYC, SF, DC, etc.

    Luckily I stayed for free for two weeks using Starwood hotel points, but the cash rate for the hotel we stayed at in Tokyo (Sheraton Miyako Tokyo, 4 star hotel) was around ~$180/night. Considering this price was for a 4-star centrally located hotel in Tokyo, with a full breakfast buffet for two included in the price, it really wasn't a bad deal at all.
