It seems so far the Texans should be 2-4 instead of 4-2.

    Their point differential shows that.

The Texans record right now is a fraud imo.

Right now the two teams that look the best in the division are Tennessee and Indy.....

Houston has got to find some defense as all these cardiac wins are crazy....

Washington and KC could have gone either way.....need to get the running game cranked up and control the clock more and for crying out loud, if your 2ndary sucks, blitz a little bit to help them out.

Is Tennessee the best defense in the division
    and
    Indy the best offense?

Indy's defense is highly suspect still. They are kind of like the Texans.
They have a better offense and a better defense
Not by much in either case. [more to do with consistancy than talent imo]

Tennesee does not have as good an offense
    but a vastly superior defense.

Jacksonville is. . . an fricking unknown to me. . .

Hey, Texans take what they can get. With this mediocre defense, we should be expecting 1-5 or 0-6.

This team is weird it addressed almost every concern last year (lack of a running game, and pressure in late game situation) i am worried but i think the fact that we have the ability to win close game (4-0) is crucial, last year we played better D but it amounted to nothing because we would always choke (ala tony homo and their top ranked defense....)

Remember the last two years when they had mediocre records, but had playoff caliber point differentials? Yeah, nobody cared then, and nobody cares now.

We're 4-2 and in first place in our division. I'm happy about that and look forward to the rest of the season. I'll just enjoy that we have a winning team so far and let the rest of you guys worry yourselves to death. :)

The way I see it, only two teams in the schedule have a defense that can dominate our offense. Within the Afc south, the games are going to be close, just the nature of the game.
I would start the other Matt against the Jets, just so schaub can live to battle another day.

Now we play the remaining 10 games and see what happens. Predictions are stupid and hardly ever correct.

And what last years record was a fraud because we should have won more of those games?

    BS!

This is the NFL and as long as you come away with the W, it is exactly that.!

Texans have earned their 4-2 and people need to realize that!

I'm sure those "excuses" that happen to every coach/team in the NFL really affect horrific offensive playcalling, the utter unpreparedness for some games, and the worst defense in the NFL.

This team is reminding me of the 2008 Broncos, they started out so strong and got to 8-5 with a Great offense but injuries has destroyed their already so-so defense so they had to win a bunch of shootouts. They had firm control of the division but their crappy defense finally caught up with them and they were shutout of the playoffs. I hope that is not what happens here but without a better performance from the defense, I don't see how the offense can continue to outscore people on a regular basis or at least enough to get us into the playoffs.

I don't understand how this defense can go from 13th overall last year to this.

    Just mind boggling.

Frank Bush looks like he has his thumb up his butt.

Same players, completely different product, that's COACHING.

The only player who was on last years defensive squad, but not this years, is Dunta. I guess you could argue Smith should have payed him (however, he was asking for too much, so I do not blame him for letting him ago) and drafted someone other than KJ. How's Kyle Wilson doing for the Jets (the DB most people wanted)? Honest question, I don't know.

I think KJ will be fine if he can get someone to mentor him. We need veteran leadership for our DBs. Maybe they can fire Gibbs and bring in Aaron Glenn to coach the DB's or something (I don't know, just throwing that out there).

should have signed Dunta OR a reasonable substitute for Dunta.

this was the WRONG year for the gamble they took with such an inexperienced secondary. that secondary looks like we're in the midst of a rebuilding phase.

perhaps if you had other experienced corners on the roster, you could get away with it. you could get away with inserting a rookie as the other starter. but not on a team that has none of that.

management completely blew it on this one. they've gotten a lot right...but this is over the top bad right now. historically bad.

The beautiful thing about this league is the Ws are all that matter. The first Patriots championship run was stuffed full of lucky last second victories. They "shouldn't" have even made the playoffs.

Of course, I also agree with you.

Got romped on twice at home by at least one "lesser" team.
Two victories that were all but decided by coin flips
One victory that we nearly choked away to a doormat.
One out and out solid win at home against a "better" team.
One of the worst defenses assembled by a non-expansion team in the modern era.
A team that openly admits to wrestling with getting motivated to play hard on Sundays.

The top of the division is as winnable as I can remember it being in franchise history. Colts are on really shaky legs right now. Can't run, terrible run D, depleted secondary - they're living off Peyton's genius like never before (and he's unbelievable this season).

Titans have an awful passing game and have only beaten Dallas, Oak, and the Giants. (Yeah, I know) Broncos and Steelers whooped them. I don't see them running away with the division, though I'll also say I don't like how we match up against them - they toasted us late year in that Monday Night Game, and our "Run Stopper" status is a total myth.

When you can't let your secondary go man, it's awfully tough to blitz. Our safeties are among the worst in the league in coverage, and if the QB picks up on the blitz on hits his hot route, it's all over.

Cushing is the only guy we could send in, and now with Ryans out, we won't be able to do that either.

    4. A front office disinterested in upgrading alarmingly bad positions on the defense. Haynesworth available? Nah, Okoye only gets thrown backwards 2 out of 3 plays - he's getting there! Schobel wants to sign with us? Will he take the minimum? Raiders are open to Asomugha talks? Whatever, Jackson is much more cost effective!

but it is not the same personel
    Dunte is gone
    Cushing has been out.
    Now Demeco

I'm not lobbying for bush but i think people
are under emphasizing the impact those things make.

I can see 6-10 and I can see 10-6 on that schedule.

    Ugh.
