Agreed....besides the fact that all 4 could end up starting due to age, injury, etc. The WR for sure starts, Free Safety gets plenty of PT and will eventually be a starter once Reed retires. OL could....maybe...start THIS YEAR......and the DE they drafted...I feel....if he grows up....will start...easily....maybe not from jump....but eventually. Keyword: high motor. All player are good news IMO.
You are right. Tennessee staff members portrayed him as selfish and hard to coach. even he said this about himself: “I had a real bitter taste in my mouth leaving the University of Tennessee,” he said. “My attitude was … I didn’t care. In 2009, following my senior season, I entered my name to the NFL draft. I wasn’t expecting to go the first two days. Finally the 7th round comes and somebody from the Seattle Seahawks calls me and says ‘how do you feel about being picked?’ I was so upset at the time — and this is really bad — my attitude was like ‘yeah man, that would be OK.’ So if Montgomery can focus on the game, he really could be a steal in this draft.
Not sure I agree with that. They really needed a safety for their system and who they got fit their needs perfectly.
I would love this too, but I can't see it happening because of Keyshawn Martin. I think I'm in the minority, but I love our receivers. Andre is Andre. Hopkins should be very solid. Keyshawn Martin played okay last year and should only get better, especially as a full time slot guy, with good receivers on either side of him. On top of that, we have Posey, who was coming on very strong last year before his injury. Lestar Jean has showed flashes at times, also. Now you throw in Daniels and Graham. I like that.
Seems like a well spoken high character guy. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QWuUHqSLs30?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/sDii_nCc5QI?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Im with you on this one...Im extremely excited about our receivers, specially when Posey is back to 100%. I think we've got some nice, young talent there. If they can continue to develop and improve, then the sky is the limit with those kids. Andre will be a great father figure to them on the field. I'll tell you guys why Im excited about this draft. And the more I think about it, the more excited I get. They picked two guys today that play crazy. Swearinger is a beast. He plays hard, but hits even harder. The guy is a major **** talker...he plays with a lot of energy, and a ton of swagger. He fits right in with the likes of Cushing. Im sure they will have plenty of head crushing moments in pre-game warmups. Montgomery...yes, he may have said he didnt give full effort at all times...but he clearly gets up to play against the nations best. If the knock on him is that he has talent, but doesnt use it all the time...well, I dont think that's going to be a problem when he's surrounded with the other defenders on this team. The work ethic of guys like Cushing and Watt is contagious. You cant be around those guys and not feel the responsibility of kicking ass on every play. Montgomery also plays with a certain swagger, similar to Swearinger...as if they think they are the best players on the field. Cocky and crazy. And that's how I want my defenders to play. The Texans seemingly went against the grain with what they have been typically used to drafting in the past. It's great that they are going for the player with high upside...rather than the player with high character. Take some chances to hit it big...and that's exactly what they did today.
With the Texans' injury curse, depth at other positions is more important. Wouldn't mind giving Barkley a shot though.
Said it before here...but I think Tyler Wilson is an NFL starter waiting to happen. I'd love to see Texans pick him up at this point. I think that's huge value.
The Texans' pick of a 'groomed' safety was a head scratcher especially in 2nd rd. I like the other picks, as they are to fill positions of need. They also seem to be of the high upside variety. Speaking of picks that can be groomed, how about using a 4th Zac Dysert or Tyler Wilson at QB? Bet Matt Schaubb wouldn't mind take either under his wings!
Players left in Mayock's Top 100 players who at the least would be an upgrade of a reserve spot 43. Matt Barkley 50. Ryan Nassib 67. B.W. Webb 69. Khaseem Greene 75. Andre Ellington 77. William Gholston 78. Quinton Porter 79. Alex Okafor 85. Jordan Poyer 86. Tyler Bray 89. John Simon 91. Barrett Jones 97. Jesse Williams 100. First time I think I've been happy with all of the Texans picks so far. No real reaches that I can see.
