Houston should look at Landry Jones if he falls to the 3rd round. Has an excellent arm and started all 4 years at OU. Dude can make all the throws, just needs to get coached up a bit - maybe Kubiak and co can help in that regard
**** NO. That dude is toxic. He's Matt Schaub with a bigger arm. The QB they should look at is EJ Manuel from FSU.
I said this in anouther thread, but my draft would be Round 1: Right Tackle Round 2: Best WR/TE available Round 3: Outside Linebacker Round 4: Nose Tackle/Defensive Tackle Round 5: Safety Round 6: Inside Linebacker Round 7: Any Linebacker
Oh, dear Lord no. No please. Noooooo. Wouldn't be surprised if his stock tanks, might be a 6th round pick.
I am hoping he is. I think he is better suited for the position. He is fine at OLB, but not great imo. He could be a great ILB next to Cushing (although he wouldn't play as much). But I think a linebacker core of Mercilus-Reed-Cushing-Rookie would be pretty nice.
1R. Alec Ogletree – ILB – Georgia 2R. Lane Johnson – OL– Oklahoma 3R. Landry Jones - QB - Oklahoma 4R. Bacarri Rambo - S– Georgia 5R. Marcus Davis – WR – Virginia Tech 6R. Linebacker 7R. Linebacker
From what I read from many "experts" the two positions are too drastically different (at this level) to anticipate a change. Now the people I heard this from were responding to those that suggested this switch happen when Cushing went down during the season and depth became an issue. The change may be more feasible with the offseason ahead. However, I am not sure what the primary advantage of doing this is. I think he is fine at OLB, but I guess if you teach him some ILB skills he becomes more verstatile, but I dont think he would line up as a true ILB very often.
That's ridiculous. He's got game - just needs to be coached up. Toxic? How many times did he rip us a new a-hole in the RRS? He's got the measureables. If Kubiak is such a QB guru, then he should be able to develop him. I'd be more worried about EJ Manuel - I don't think I ever saw him win a big game.
One of those QBs (Barkley, Wilson, Glennon, Jones, etc) is going to shoot up draft boards based on workouts.
And the Rockets are getting Jabari Parker in 14 too. In other words, it ain't happening. Let's keep pipe dreams out of this thread please.
Barkley. He had a crap year in college, nobody cares about what you do in college. They're still trying to make Tavaris Jackson a QB based on who knows what.
I like this lineup but I would tweak it slightly with Ogletree sliding to the middle with Reed remaining outside. Mercilus would primarily be focused on rushing the passer while the others all have the ability to rush or drop in to coverage. This could provide a wide range of blitz packages.
Barkley might have gone top-10 last year. He threw 36 TDs, 15 INTs this year but is now a projected 2nd rounder since he folded too many times. I think Houston is stuck with Schaub since most of those dudes are projects anyways. It's not like there's an elite QB sitting on the bench anywhere right now. Their best bet is to draft someone and stash him away for a year like Harbaugh did with Kap.
People said he might go 2nd overall last year. What's changed mechanically and physically? He'll be the 2nd QB taken. If he's there when the Texans pick I'll bet $50 we take him.
and how many big games did Jones win? Landry Jones is taking everyone of Matt Schaub's ****tiest attributes and multiplying them by 1,000.
I don't think the physical tools are his problem. I've never been that impressed with his play and other than his 2011 season he threw way too many interceptions.
