its crap threads like this that caused me to leave the ESPN boards two yrs ago and start posting here.. I'm sorry to see that the dip-sh*ts from the ESPN boards have finally found their way here.. btw.........just because it doesn't say Senior Member beside ur nick does NOT mean they are newbies. there are plenty of us who have been here for an extended length of time but don't have massive post counts.
It's funny that this thread hasn't been closed and that people continue to post and respond to it, including my post. As of right now, this thread has had 43 fixing to be 44 replies and over 880 views. Most of the posts including this one has nothing to do with what was stated in the thread. It just proves my point that people around here, sometimes never respond unless you say something inflammatory like a troll or you get derogatory with other members whether they're "newbies" or not. I'm not going to mention any names (and no, I'm not talking about a member whose name begins with a M and has already been mentioned by others) here, but I've seen at least one sig about the BBS Nazis and I have read other posts where "newbies" were flamed and ridiculed by other members. It's funny that the one person I'm talking about in particular has only been here a month longer than me and he is a Sr Member!! Don't get me wrong--I'm not saying he is wrong nor am I calling him out. I'm just saying that what has been going on with this thread is something that has happened before with other people, and a lot of you who have been here for a while know that for a fact. So, I sorta resent this idea or attitude that I'm the only one who does this when that is not the case. I had explained in an earlier post why I did what I did and if it makes anybody happy, then I'll gladly say I'm sorry if I upset people despite the fact that I was proving a point. What you see (or read) with me is what you get. I'll tell you the way I see it without any sugarcoating. I'm not one to get into cliques and I've probably pissed people off. However, when you start a thread on something like the salary cap and why there are players on the Rockets who have still not signed and reach out to ask questions about it and nobody responds then it is pretty d*** despicable with some of the attitudes around here. I had to answer myself in a sarcastic way before people finally responded with what I wanted to know. I guess what I'm saying is that we all need to change our attitudes when we read other people's posts. Just because they are not a Sr Member or their post is not troll-driven doesn't mean that they need to be ignored. I know that in the case with JHicks and the thread "Now that the Rice Deal Is Done" it has made me really sit and read and appreciate the time he took in putting together his posts. Hell, if I can take the time to do something like that, then is it asking too much for others to do the same??

it's the off-season...now that the Big Trade is over...nothing else to do but get into the spirit of things... i don't know about u but i hope i don't see another Hakeem v Shaq, or Francis v any A/S pg or Bash Cato thread again...it's like an endless re-run of Groundhog Day, me myself and i included. BTW Groundhog Day is a funny movie.
Well let's see, I've been registered only a month longer than you and I have the BBS Nazi thing in my signature, so I'm guessing that I'm being talked about by you. First thing I'd like to tell you Manny is you need to lighten up and get a clue. The BBS Nazi thing in my sig is a joke to me because a famous troll called some people on this board BBS Nazis. I think he's a funny troll and I've enjoyed his past trolls, the sig's a joke not meant to be taken seriously. I'm not angry or anything when I'm on here. I think a lot of people think I have all of this rage and anger towards people on this board, I'm just having fun. Am I not allowed to have fun on a bbs? I had no clue I was supposed to reply to EVERY thread, there's just certain topics I don't feel like posting on or I have very little opinion about. Like in the BBS Hangout, I pretty much avoid every thread involving politics and the Astros, mainly because I don't care about those 2 things, or I do care, I just don't feel like posting an opinion on it. Also I might have been registered just a month ago, but I've been around for a little longer than that, posting under my old moniker that I lost in the "Great Debate over Langhi Time" back in June of 2001. I also don't think I pick on just junior members, I have fun posting on here, I like joking with everyone. The only people that don't seem to understand my jokes and jabs are the newer members. Seriously Manny, you need to lighten up, it's the summer time on an NBA BBS, you can't expect there to be too many serious conversations when there's very little to talk about. Also if anyone has a problem with me, just drop me an e-mail, this "not naming names" stuff is lame, and we can take any sort of disagreement of my posts to e-mail so the board won't get littered with this crap.

Seriously, I used you to get my message across to some of these other posters that were acting like I was such an a**hole and that what I was doing was something that is never done. I'm sorry that I didn't use your name, but I guess the way I handled it, it came out worse. Now before you get upset, let me explain. I didn't know that the sig was a joke to you, but I have seen posts by other people including both you and me that bashed a newbie thread/post. Personally, I look at it like this: if you are going to post something idiotic then you should expect to get ripped. I have posted some idiotic things and I have been ripped. That's no problem because I deserved it. Hell, you were one of the ones that ripped me when I made the statement to the effect that Glen Rice can play D better than anybody on the BBS (remember that?). The times that I have seen you bash a post, it was deserved in my opinion because the post or thread was idiotic. With that being said, do I have a problem with you? No, I don't but I used you also because you are someone who posts alot like me. You have been posting using your current moniker for less than 2 months. I can't help but think that certain people around here read your posts more insightfully because you have the "Sr Member" by your name. I'll probably reach 250 posts by the end of this month although night school is fixing to start and that will curb some of the time that I spend here. However, it probably won't be long before I reach 500 posts (or how many ever it takes) and become a Sr Member. Looking back it was pretty s***ty of me to do what I did because I unintentionally made you look bad. If you look at the stuff that I said right after the stuff you bolded, you will see that I have nothing against you. I enjoy reading your posts, you're a diehard, and your posts always hits the nail on the head. So, if I offended you, I'm sorry. As I said later in my post, I've pissed some people off in the past, but you are someone that I don't want to piss off (maybe it's your name that I'm scared of--just kidding!). It was just you have a unique situation and I used you to take adavantage of what I was trying to say to others. It wasn't right of me and I'm sorry. It just bothers me that (and I'm saying this in general, not to you) I can start a thread and have lots of people view it, but no one will want to respond. Look at my thread, "Status of Unsigned Players". I've followed the Rockets for 18 years and I still have a tough time understanding the salary cap and why guys like Langhi, Morris, and Griffin are unsigned. I know it was because of the cap, but I wanted to know why . So, I reached out to everybody on the BBS assuming that someone would respond. 3 days later, I had to post a sarcastic response that finally yielded the information that I wanted. To me that was pretty sorry that 3 days went by and only after I jumpstarted the discussion back did I get a response. Yet if I had made an idiotic post or flamed someone, you better believe that I would have gotten responses just like this thread. I'm not asking that every time that I post something that everyone replies, but if you ask a question and there are people out there who knows the answer then it's not asking much to reply. I just feel that there are too many cliques and perceptions out there and that makes finding out things tough. Just to put it out there: Manny Ramirez and a few others have noticed something that I've noticed for a few years: there IS an "elitist" clique here on the BBS. Newbies do get bashed, and many times they don't earn the bashing. There's a definite feeling of disdain among this clique for newbies, and it really comes out when the newbie happens to be a complete idiot. There are three types of people who come to this board: 1) the "elites", who have been here a while and could coach any team / could make wise trades (have great bball knowledge and intelligence), 2) everyone in between (those of us who can't write so well, have limited intelligence or bball knowledge, etc, but are still diehard fans), and 3) trolls. I personally fall in the #2 category (my bball knowledge base is small compared to the "elites"), which is why I'm willing to call out this injustice. I've also never cared for cliques. Manny et al. are correct in pointing out that the elites are too quick to jump on newbies, IMHO. "Put you on my ignore list" is another way of saying "I am a senior member who doesn't have to listen to you unless you're really going to become like me". Sometimes, of course, it's a troll, but what's the harm in reading it? Personally, I find some of the trolls' posts to be amusing - we all need a joke now and then. Why ignore them, when many of us - particularly the "elites" - obviously have nothing better to do? I am a major opponent of censorship. When the elites force a newbie off the board, unless it was obviously a troll-attack then I feel that a little piece of this board's strength has been chipped away. Let them talk, for God's sake - what harm can they possibly do? If you don't want to respond to it/have no opinion, then don't respond. How hard is that? No one's making you read it, anyway. I've been here a while, but I have yet to break the *arbitrary* 1,000 post milestone, and so have gained no *arbitrary* respect. I also lack the bball knowledge to stand out, and so do not deserve true respect like some others (OP, Doc Rocket, crispee, DoD, Jeff, and many others). I've never really asked for that anyway, and don't particularly care for it myself. It just bugs me to see an elitist clique descend upon a hapless newbie (who's probably heard great things about this site) and destroy him before he gets a chance to say what's on his mind. There, I said it. It needed to be said by a "senior member", and since I've never aspired to win any popularity contests, I'll be the scapegoat. CC.net's integrity seems to need a scapegoat, what with all the elitists who seem to need to tear someone apart to feel alive, so fire on.
You're one of the "good guys", BGM/PRM. Usually pretty fair in my estimation. You don't seem to attack newbies unless they're pretty much begging for it. I don't think there's any need to name specific posters - I only named those who are above reproach. It's just an observation that I felt needed that "senior" added for it to be at least read seriously. Obviously, I feel strongly enough about it to stake my reputation (what "reputation"? I mean my postcount) on it... If I'm really wrong, then I just get a hotmail account and start a new post count. But why would I waste a mere 850+ posts over 2 years over something I didn't believe in? I'm willing to throw myself in the newbie boat just to make a statement that IMHO needs to be made.
treeman, some of those you mentioned that 'earned' respect really needs to read your post thoroughly. i treat this board as just an interesting read. i have more respect for those who post messages tactfully and respectfully than those who sniffed news way before others do and then reply to other's threads in a rude manner with the pretense of protecting the 'integrity' of the bbs. p.s i'm not an anger ball or anything. just came out serious like that
