Well, maybe it is. The source doesn't matter, right?

Could we start a petition to oust Chad Fraud? He will end up really hurting ESPN.

More and more of their NBA coverage is handled by Fraud and his "insider" (sic) crap. If we could just show ESPN the following logic, they might change course and save their ship:

Choice 1 -- pay extra fee, receive crappy information
Choice 2 -- go to other websites, get okay information for free.

    Duh.

I agree the Bobcats might take Pike. I'll never understand why he wasn't a good fit here - defense, sure a weakness - but how can you explain a career 40% 3 pt shooter getting open looks and his shot looking so bad? It was such a logical acquisition for us, and ugh...

I didn't see any other PF on that list worth taking other than Taylor. MoT has has always played solid on offense when he hasn't been hurt and this past season he really showed his potential...and that is being the 3rd or 4th option. If he is the 2nd option on the Bobcats, he'll be more effective...esp. in the in east.

I'd say his only glaring weakness is that he doesn't board...but he DOES play defense pretty well despite what most think of him around here.

I'd take MoT if were them. He's only over priced by about 1-2 mil. He's reliable instant offense at the 4 spot, that isn't easy to come by.

He'd take up 25% or more of their 1st year cap. Mo? No, for Bobs.

it's hard to think of a mock draft that fits under the cap restriction with these players....i will have to pray for the bobcats.

Time will reverse itself to allow the Rockets to trade Ralph Sampson for Michael Jordan before the Bobcats take Mo Taylor and his big-ass contract.

Answer -The Rockets had Steve Francis as the starting Point Guard, he could not play the position as a playmaker, so setting other players up like Pike was a problem. Hopefully that will be rectified this offseason.

Can an unlimited number of players be left unprotected? I guess the Rockets want to keep Cato.

interesting list and obviously short on good PF's and C's.

With this unconfirmed list, I'd consider :

    PG Bremer
    SG Jumaine Jones
    SF Qyntel Woods/Gerald Wallace
    PF Fizer
    C Skinner

Bobs retain most of their cash (Fizer at 3.5mil and rest at 1mil) and get a decently exciting team. Bremer, Jones and Fizer can light it up, Qyntel Woods or Gerald Wallace have some potential with huge athletic abilities... some flying slams from Wallace to ignite the crowd. And Skinner came off a great season finishing top in block categories for some defensive presence.

They'd have most of their money to use after the season with this list.

At first, I was surprised we protected Spoon over MoT, but after looking at their remaining salaries, it's a bit more obvious.

    MoT
    2004/05 2005/06 2006/07
    $8.45M $9.1M $9.76M

    Spoon
    2004/05 2005/06
    $5.9M $6.3M

    Jeff Van Gundy--loves former Knicks
    Clarence Weatherspoon--former Knick
    Maurice Taylor--not a former Knick

Makes sense to me. :D So when do we get to draft Xavier McDaniel???

Why we left unprotected Griffin? He's a very cheap player. Is he still injured?

I think the core of the Bobcats will be:

Gerald Wallace, Qyntel Woods, Reece Gaines, Keyon Dooling, Drobnjak, Jerome James, Sasha Pavlovic, and their #4 pick (either Livingston or Deng).

That's around 7 picked players. The 7 of them make around 20M.

I believe their cap is 64% of our cap, and that's around 28M. So they have 8 more million. They can, for example, pick Jerry Stackhouse and deal him somewhere for 2 good players. Their roster is up to 9 players, minus the #4 pick. Let's say they deal Stackhouse and their #4 pick to the Clippers for the #2 pick?

    Then they're looking at:

    James/Drobnjak
    Howard or Okafor/Drobnjak
    Gerald Wallace/Pavlovic
    Woods/Gaines
    Gaines/Dooling

They can do a lot of running with that kind of team, and they'd be pretty damn athletic as well. Not the best team in the world, unless their draft pick explodes immediately and averages a solid 20/10.
