My mistake.. I only looked at the salaries on HoopsHype and didn't realize that Lin's and Asik's salaries only count as 8mil even though they're getting paid 15mil next season according to the Gilbert Arenas Provision. So it's a total of 16mil instead of the ridiculous 30mil I previously thought. Glad to know that! Thanks for politely pointing that out to me.

Trade away one of the best players in the NBA for an unproven player, who's not even the best player in the draft.

Yeah I understand the west is improving but I think with the right moves we can push 60 wins. It doesn't have to be Melo. I would kind of prefer it not but not opposed to it. I was one at the start of the season I had hopes of a title but expected a 1st or 2nd round exit. Very rare you pull it off in the first year. I think the better role players will choose us over Portland and The Phoniex of the western conference. Maybe it's just homerism but I just think we will be able to draw those good players on discount just like Miami has especially after that series Howard just put up. But we will see

My choices in no particular order:

Boris Diaw - proven rebounder that can defend bigs and step outside for the 2 or 3.

Anthony Morrow - terrific 3 point shooter that would fit perfectly with the offense

Kyle Lowry - great on the ball defender and quick enough to get by defenders

TJ Tucker - another good defender with athleticism that has developed an offensive game

Channing Frye - can shoot the 3 and olay some D.

Nate Robinson - defender and scorer that loves to run and shoot the 3

If you can't get Melo or push a trade for a guy like K Love, then 1 year contracts until 2015

2015 FA is the better group of FA's anyway

And get rid of the coach. He's been horrible all year. There's a reason why the Lakers hire and fire coaches like crazy

    Good question.

McHale was signed to a 4 year deal on or about May 27, 2011. with the final year being a team option. Without seeing the contract, I can't be sure, but I would guess they have to elect to opt in or out of the final year by the three year anniversary - May 27, 2014 or so.
