No. No NBA team will ever retire his jersey.

it's hard to say brother. Les might have a different idea. Don't regret if one day you have to eat 2 crows while tinmen have to eat 3 crows.

This. Yao was a very good player with some flashes of greatness but greatly limited by injury. Unfortunately that's part of the game and there are many players out there who had the potential of being legends but couldn't because of injuries. For the Rockets' organization, NBA, the US and PRC Yao was much more than that and deserves this recognition.

no, please don't retire Yao's Jersey right now. Next two years, Rockets will be a championship level team when Morey gets another franchise player. Yao can come back as backup center, his low post game will help a lot in playoff. Yao deserves a ring.......

well, if you could cook the crow in a good way, I'd like to eat it. Crow tastes just like chicken, and even more delicious.

Great. When are we going to retire Matt Bullard and Rafer Alston's jerseys?

got to congratulate the Big man on this. It is great to see recognition.

I remember when he first came into the league, a lot of people around the L saw him as a joke. Like many have said, he showed flashes of greatness...to bad of injuries though.

how I wish he could return, he could be a great back up for Asik and could teach Asik some lowpost moves, but we have to let go, he's beyond basketball now..:(

    never say never

You never know. Yao is still young. If the Rockets can accomodate him (playing less minutes as backup center) like they accomodate Royce White, he can still contribute, even just for defence by deflecting shots. Never say never. :);)

His Rockets jersey should be retired but he isn't HOF material unless he makes the HOF based on bringing millions of Chinese fans to the NBA.

Cannot believe people feel his jersey should not be retired, the guy had to overcome a lot and did some great things for the Rockets! Now as a player, he definitely does not deserve to be in the Hall of Game.

It doesn't really matter if yao can be voted in as HOF, 20/30 years from now people wouldn't know most of the players in HOF, but they would know yao.

HOF only belongs to NBA, and yao belongs to the game of basketball. There's a reason he risked his health and NBA career for international basketball tournament. It's not that NBA is inferior to Olympics/World Champ games(a lot of international baketball fans/media thought that way), but there's a different priority for some international players. Sabonis is considered as greater/better than Vlade outside of US...
