and this will all be D'Antoni's fault? whereas in some alternative Matrix-like world, the JVG-coached Rockets automatically leads us to the NBA Finals Land of Milk and Honey?

I have to admit, I don't get it. I don't see this as spelling the automatic doom of the Rockets. Just like I don't see JVG or Thibs or Messina or Anyone Else guaranteeing the automatic success of the Rockets. This is sports. One of the things that makes a sport a sport is that the outcome is uncertain. Some days you win, some days you lose, and some days it rains. Honestly I think folks just need to calm down and watch what happens.

Signing Conley and Horford would be huge(and almost completely unlikely to happen), but it would eat up all our cap space. We'd have no money left to add anyone else. And we have no first rounder either. That's why I think we're in for an ugly 2016-17 season. We simply don't have the resources to reload quickly outside of capspace. And this just happens to be the one summer where virtually every other team in the NBA will have enough room to add an impact player.

I'd much rather we save that capspace or at least not commit too much of it to lower tier free agents like Barnes. But since Les has no patience or capacity for long-term planning, I ain't holding my breath.

No, it won't be D'Antoni's fault. That's why I said to set aside his hiring for a moment. Because I honestly think it's irrelevant who coaches this team over the next few years given how dire our roster situation is right now. The Rockets are likely a 45 win team at best next season barring a lot of luck in free agency this summer. And that's gonna be the nail in the coffin for retaining Harden heading into 2017-18, the final year on his contract.

What I really wish they'd done given the limited prospects for the franchise over the next few years is hire a young up-and-coming assistant or first time coach in the NBA. Kinda like what the Celtics did with Brad Stevens in Boston when they decided to rebuild after the Big Three(and Doc) were done there.

I bet if JBB didn't back out, he'd be the other finalists. My goodness, no Vogel?

So have I. Never "loved" the man, but always posted that we could do a hell of a lot worse than Alexander as owner of the Rockets. Now?

Les Alexander needs to sell the Rockets.

Harden may not leave us. I imagine he will put up god like numbers under Pringles. Problem is we will be just as bad on defense.

I'm a neurologist and I seriously think Les has a dementia beginning to destroy his intellectual abilities

Well done Mauri. Staying true to your mantra that coaching doesn't matter
