[rquoter]Depends on who they sign. If they stay young, I like picking a young coach that can grow with them. Dave Joerger, an assistant with the Memphis Grizzlies, would be great.[/rquoter]

This was ESPN's David Thorpe's response during a chat yesterday when asked who would be the perfect head coach for the New Jersey Nets.

    I'll concur.

Living in North Dakota for much of my life and being the minor league basketball junkie that I am, I'm rather familiar with the coaching credentials of Joerger - he's won five minor league titles, earned three coach of the year honors and was the head coach of the winning team in perhaps the greatest basketball moment I've ever watched live (above - and you're lying if that doesn't give you goosebumps).

With the Dakota Wizards (five of his seven minor league head coaching seasons were spent in Bismarck), he was the head coach when the following players received an NBA call-up: Oliver Miller, Rodney Buford, Maurice Carter, Kaniel Dickens, Eddie Gill, Sean Lampley, Oliver Miller again, Billy Thomas, Maurice Baker, Renaldo Major, Justin Williams, Melvin Sanders and Junior Harrington. I don't believe there's another coach that can boast a tangible list of players he's developed quite like Joerger can - especially in such a short span and all before turning 35.

Don't fret, though - as the multiple championships will tell you, he's just as good with the X's and O's as he is at developing talent. He's also been handed the keys to the Grizzlies during the past two Vegas Summer League's, giving him quality experience as a head coach with NBA players as well.

Let it be known that when Joerger finally gets an NBA heading coach gig, it'll be the happiest I've ever been for a call-up.

tell us. how stupid do they look ????

on a scale of 1-17 of stupid-looking-ness, what is the rockets score ???

how does the rockets stupid-looking-ness score compare with all the other 29 teams in the league ???

this important issue must be addressed asap. i can't wear stupid-ness jersey in broad daylight.

I agree. He ran the Timberwolves to the ground with a PERENNIAL MVP candidate in KG. Now he's expected to get us to the next level. Really?

There is no next level for the Rockets, when they have no franchise player. Yao Ming is not a franchise player. They are a lottery team. It's just hope and pray for a top 3 pick in the lottery for next season. Anybody that believes the Rockets are a playoff contender(next level) with the right coach is not seeing reality.

what do you expect. it's not like he had a t-mac to get his team to the first round and then give up.

This is so disappointing, we hiring a part time coach, so that our future coach can have a position. Sounds like a winner to me. Negative! The Rockets are going nowhere under McHale and the Toyota Center will be empty as ever.

Thanks Les and Daryl, Morey is slowly killing the Rockets and Les isn't holding him accountable.

The problem is he never showed himself capable of building a winner. He drafted KEVIN GARNETT and didn't do **** with him.

except turn him into an excellent two-way player and arguably one of the best PF of this generation...

If he can get Patterson, Hill, and Thabeet to even get half of Garnett or Love's rebounding and points, it will have been worth it while we are rebuilding.
